🌟 Education and community participation are two sides of the same coin when it comes to societal development. Education equips individuals with knowledge and skills, enabling them to contribute meaningfully to their communities. When people actively engage with their communities, they apply their education to solve real-world problems, fostering positive change and a sense of unity. 📚 📆 #EducationForDevelopment #CommunityParticipation #SocietalDevelopment #KnowledgeAndSkills #PositiveChange #UnityInCommunity #EducationMatters #CommunityEngagement #col1920

With over 3.5M young people in South Africa classified as NEET (not in education, employment, or training), I am certain that as South Africans we all personally know of a young person with so much potential but who has completely lost hope and has no idea where to start or how to pick up the momentum. Thank you Bertha Centre for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship for leading this initiative - it's crucial that we map out the innovation ecosystem supporting youth and find ways to join our efforts and respond collectively to address this wicked problem and restore hope. If you're working with youth, please fill in the survey so we can create meaningful change together. #Youth #Innovation #NEET #SocialImpact #Entrepreneurship #Employability
To support and better understand youth employment initiatives in SA, Bertha Centre worked with The Youth Development Collaboration Lab (YD Co-lab) to map the current Youth Development Ecosystem. For the 2nd round of this mapping excercise, we're zooming in on innovation. If you're a local organisation working with youth, we want to hear from you! TIS Member Gathering programme spotlight💡 At the gathering, on Thursday 15th August 2024, Sharon Donohoe – Development Director at TIS will present the key findings of the Social housing sector: Youth engagement study. This study was commissioned by the Scottish Government in order to gain a better understanding of the baseline of youth engagement in the Scottish social housing sector. A demographic that is often under-represented in tenant participation and engagement practices is young tenants. Establishing meaningful opportunities to increase youth engagement in housing and wider community services remains an ongoing challenge. Key findings from this study highlight a number of barriers that affect to the success of youth engagement, including: housing organisations not always being fully aware of the number of young tenants living within their properties; a lack of understanding of the priorities of young tenants; and an insufficient range of participation options designed specifically for young tenants. I help teams build inclusive +innovative cultures through better collaboration, innovation & co-creation | Learning Experience Designer | Creative Problem Solver | Service Designer | Workshop Facilitator
Toronto Public Library partnered with Seismonaut, an innovative Danish firm, and devised an approach to measure the value of the library and its services using their Experience Impact Compass. Key findings: 1. Libraries provide a welcoming community hub, fostering social inclusion and connection for diverse groups including newcomers, seniors, youth, and those experiencing poverty or homelessness. 2. They offer free access to technology, resources, and skilled staff assistance, bridging the digital divide and supporting lifelong learning, job searches, and skill development for all residents. 3. Library programs like reading clubs, maker spaces, and community events promote literacy, creativity, and civic engagement across all ages. 4. The estimated annual economic impact of TPL's services is over $1 billion, delivering an exceptional return on public investment. The first-of-its-kind study in North America demonstrates that public libraries are vital social infrastructure, creating immense value by empowering individuals, strengthening communities, and driving economic prosperity in the communities they serve. #TPL #Seismonaut #TorontoPublicLibraryFoundation #economicimpact #libraryinnovation #ExperinceImpactCompass #socialcohesion #ROI https://lnkd.in/guvEHhnz
