Behind the curtain lies the heart of a theater or stage performance venue - the backstage area. This is where the unseen magic of the performance comes together through preparation and coordination. 🔍 Dressing Rooms: Areas where actors prepare, dress in costumes, and await their entrances onto the stage. 📦 Storage Areas: Spaces where stage props, costumes, and other equipment are stored and maintained. 💄 Makeup Rooms: Places where actors apply makeup suitable for their characters and get ready in their costumes. 💤 Rest and Preparation Areas: Spaces where actors can rest during performance breaks and prepare before going on stage. 📋 Management Spaces: Areas where the production team holds meetings, manages stage operations, and plans the organization. These backstage areas highlight the exciting aspects of stage arts while emphasizing the importance of teamwork and success. The effort and coordination behind stage arts are truly captivating! ✨🎭 #BehindTheScenes #Theater #StageArts

#ThrowbackThursday to the last time I acted on stage ❤. Playing a Texan gal in a two-hander play, onstage constantly from curtain up to curtain down 🤪. I always felt extremely comfortable onstage, like anything could happen and I could handle it. Of course, there were nerves before I went on, but when the lights went down and the audience hushed, I was relaxed and in control. I was always fascinated by the split focus of the actor's brain 😵. You're in character, you really are. You're experiencing and feeling the action of the play in character. But there's another part of the brain that's still you, managing the theatrical practicalities. Where you need to stand, what props you need and dealing with any issues that arise. I've dealt with all sorts. Actors not being on stage, all the furniture missing, actors forgetting their lines, me forgetting my lines, costume malfunctions, being naked . . . er, what? Yep, none of it bothered me 😁. Walking into a theatre still gives me goosebumps. It's like a hallowed place where magic happens 🤩. I'm a full-time voice actor now and I get MUCH more work, so it suits me a lot better. I'm partial to eating now and then, you know 😅. But, I'll always miss the thrill of the stage ❤ How about you? Have you ever been on stage? Did you love it? 🤔 #voiceactor #actor #voiceover #theatre #drama #audiodrama -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Need a voiceover who can act for your next project? 😊 🎤 DM me 🎤 Follow the link to my website in the comments 👇.

Theatre Work: Reimagining the Labor of Theatrical Production, by Brídín Clements Cotton and Natalie Robin (with a foreword by Carmen Morgan, artEquity Founder and Executive Director), opens a door into both the history and current realities of life and work in professional theatrical production in the United States. It specifically questions the lack of diverse representation in the theatrical production field today and how the field has promoted systemic exclusion. Rather than proposing a checklist of steps to a more equitable workplace, Theatre Work invites readers to question everything—our shared history, our ways of operating, our assumptions about how theatre has to function, our own part in these systems—and to consider what might happen if theatre in the United States was reborn in an entirely new form. There is another way. Check out the book here: https://lnkd.in/erAsguqu or click the LINK IN BIO on our IG. #artEquity #TheatreWork Image Description: Theatre Work: Reimagining the Labor of Theatrical Production book cover on a gray background. The book cover showcases the title and a black-and-white line drawing of a stage in need of repair with a hole in the back brick wall through which you can see a colorful and beautiful sunrise coming up over green hills.

I've learned a lot about leadership and effective consulting through my work as a fight choreographer. Every production I work on gets new, unique choreography, even if I've worked on the same play numerous times before. That's essential, because an effective performance must reflect the story that the director is trying to tell, the actors' capabilities, and the constraints imposed by the stage layout. Similarly, I strive to recognize each client's strengths, challenges, and operational context, rather than simply sharing standardized best practices, in order to ensure that my strategic recommendations are aligned with their organizational objectives. If you're able, check out Theatre Incognita's MacBeth this weekend or next; they've done an outstanding job keeping each other safe and telling a compelling story with some truly challenging scenes of violence: https://lnkd.in/e4GXwdmx And if you're interested in how lessons from stage combat can help teams build trust quickly, communicate more effectively, and maintain/develop a growth mindset, let's talk! #consulting #teambuilding #bespokesolutions #shakespeare #theater #stagecombat

Are you a ‘What’s next?’ or a ‘Woohoo!’ kind of person? I imagine a playwright wants a sold-out theater on opening night. They’ve written the play and selected the director, actors, costumes, scenery, and stagehands. They’ve attended to every tiny little detail they can think of. When the curtain goes up, it’s showtime. At the end of the performance, they all take a bow. Whether the show was sold out or had empty seats, every step along the way was worthy of celebrating. When I talk with clients about taking action and stepping in the direction of their goals and dreams, THIS is what I’m talking about. Focus on the next step, not the destination. We move through life, checking the boxes and moving to the next thing on the list. We make the mistake of waiting to celebrate. We wait for success. Success based on what? I’m reflecting on last week in Costa Rica. We celebrated new friendships, personal discoveries, overcoming fears, shifting our perspectives on many subjects, and creating a new story for our lives. Are there things I’ll do differently next time? Maybe. Celebrate every small step along the way. You’ll experience a life that’s more exciting and fulfilling. Remember...you have wings to F.L.Y.💙 First love yourself. #createyourlife #putyourselffirst #reinventioncoaching #lifecoachingtips #michaelmamminacoaching
