Black History Month is a time to spotlight and celebrate the honorable contributions, achievements, and culture of Black Americans and their communities. However, these efforts should be applied year-round. Fortunately, at DeVry, we can lean into our business resource groups, including the Association of Black Colleagues (ABC), to enable continuous learning by going deeper into discussions and making meaningful connections. Let’s all make a daily effort, as we celebrate, to drive communication, more specifically to ask members of the Black community about: - the experiences - our art and artists - our communities - historic figures - inventors and their inventions - moments of glory - moments of injustice - systemic oppression - cultural resilience - prominent leaders - our spending power - our wealth creation - our command of popular culture - our future! Celebrate Black History Month, by communicating and seeking an understanding of the Black Community. Go further by sharing a value of humanity that acknowledges Black History, a history of oppression, resilience, leadership, and growth, that has impacted and shaped North America and North Americans regardless of their race, religion, or economic status.

This month provides us with an opportunity to honor the rich contributions, resilience, and achievements of the Black community throughout history. It is a reminder of the countless individuals who have paved the way for progress, justice, and equality. As we step into February, it is important that we recognize Black History Month. For me, Black History Month is a reminder of the trailblazers who paved the way, the visionaries who broke barriers, and the countless unsung heroes whose contributions have shaped our industry.
