As I sit here, heartbroken and angered by the continuous news of heinous crimes against women in our country, I can't help but question the purpose of all our efforts. What is the use of giving imprisonment they will come back and take their revenge (Uran Rape Case), what is the use of staying at your home when you are not even safe with your own relatives? What is the use of candle marches, protests and social media activism if the ones in power, the protectors of our country, are sleeping and turning a blind eye to the atrocities happening right under their noses? It breaks my heart to see that even after one rape, another one follows, and the cycle continues. How shameless and helpless are we, that we can't even ask for our basic need, which is safety? We scream, we protest, we demand justice, but it falls on deaf ears. Are we living in a country where the leaders are dead from inside, where they don't give a damn about the suffering of their own people? Dear government, it's time to wake up. Stop fighting over power and position, leave your greed aside and think about the people who have put their trust in you. You were appointed to serve and protect the citizens of this country, not to turn a blind eye while they suffer. If you can't fulfill your duties, then what is the use of your position? When are people going to literally go to DC and say, “Enough!” When are people going to camp out in front of the White House, by the millions, and not leave until they sign something that says we’re not funding Ukraine anymore. We’re blocking the border completely. We’re going to take gender ideology out of schools. We’re going energy independent. We’re going to manufacture in America. We’re going to pull out of the UN. We’re going to pull out of the Paris Climate Agenda. No more censoring. No more lobbyists. Cancel the Department of Education. Cancel the Dept of Health, clean house completely in the FBI, demand Term limits!!!! No more lifetime pensions and benefits. No more foreign aid. We will not only pray for peace but also work for the people on the Plateau. The key message during this program is the need to engage both kinetically and through dialogue. For me, it's a multidimensional approach that is context-specific. I emphasized the need to revisit the conversation around state police, as it doesn't make much sense for governors to declare curfews while people are still being killed. I raised strong concerns about the effectiveness of curfews and the politics surrounding them. Do those who declare curfews have the enforcement capacity, or do they merely declare them to show that the government has acted? I didn't just talk about Plateau state; it's a national issue that we must address on a broad scale. We need to engage to understand the grievances of all people and find ways to consolidate.
