From the archive: A Healthy Dose of DEI- Labor Day! Labor Day was first celebrated in the United States in the late 19th century. Its origins can be traced back to the labor movement, a powerful force for workers' rights during the Industrial Revolution. During this time, workers endured long hours, hazardous working conditions, and meager wages. As workers organized and demanded better treatment, labor unions gained momentum. Today, Labor Day has evolved into a day of relaxation, picnics, and parades. It's often seen as the unofficial end of summer, with many people enjoying the long weekend and taking trips with family and friends. However, at its core, Labor Day remains a time to recognize and appreciate the contributions of workers to society.
