You are not just calendar managers, travel agents, and expense managers. You are business partners to your executives and leadership teams; you are the culture creators; you are the firefighters who douse the flames of chaos; you are the ones who see and hear everything; and, most importantly, you are the ones that keep projects moving from behind the scenes, very often with little praise. Delta Dallas was founded on an executive support placement over 40 years ago, and we are so proud of the amazing network of administrative support professionals that we have built in those years. We hope you know that you are the foundation of our success, and we appreciate you! #AdministrativeProfessionalsWeek #AdministrativeProfessionalsDay #AdminWeek #AdminDay #DeltaDallas #Appreciation

How to be aware of / Cope with / Manage "Office Politics" Recently an excellent young ex-colleague of mine Sreedevi Raghavan (ICF-PCC) (who is an enthusiastic practicing Coach), had in a #Linkedin article, listed the qualities/steps needed for individuals to remain relevant and prosper in leadership roles in organisations. Many readers had added their views and perspectives on that. Very interesting and powerful suggestions distilled from their experiences. But I found that no one had mentioned about the need to acknowledge and effectively tackle "Office Politics". Perhaps people consider it a bit distasteful, uncomfortable and unprofessional to formally acknowledge the powerful impact of "Office Politics" on one's career. It is a bit too late in the day for me to realise the need to understand, accept and meet head on the politics in one's workplace. I spent my entire work life on the erroneously lofty personal value system that Office Politics is an evil which should not even be acknowledged; let alone actively indulged. Somehow in my DNA and Psyche, the word "Dirty" got associated with "Politics" and I firmly believed that decent Gentleman(woman) executives should not get involved in "Office Politics" in any manner. The elephant in the room was consciously/deliberately ignored by me. Now in my retired life, when I look back, I regretfully realise how badly and severely, I was impacted by "Office Politics". Even when well-meaning Co-Workers clearly warned me about the conspiracies being plotted and hatched in the organisation, I steadfastly refused to hear and take any action to combat the potential impact of that. I strongly believed (or wanted to believe) that pure merit and competency alone were the passport to continuing success in corporate world and one should not indulge in or even acknowledge the potential impact of "Dirty" politics in Office. Well, probably due to God's grace, I did (progressed) fairly well in my career and even managed a place in the CXO suite. But in retrospect, I realise the debilitating impact of "Office Politics" on several aspects of my work life. Office Politics has the immense power... 1. To sabotage your progress in the organisation 2. To put roadblocks in your efforts to deliver top class performance. 3. To make things difficult and troublesome for the entire team which is reporting to you (because you have failed to tackle politics at your level). So, it is not merely you only, who gets impacted but the entire team depending on your leadership. 4. ...and the list of negative impact goes on In summary, while one need not indulge in "dirty" politics, one should definitely not ignore "Office Politics". Now, when I reminisce about the Politics I faced (without really knowing about it in an innocent manner), I can visualise the 'Self Preservation' skills one ought to learn to effectively cope with "Office Politics"... More about that later. For starters, this is an HBR article for you to absorb.

This is a great example of how leadership and wellbeing are proven to be vital in the performance of employees. Do your leaders ‘check in’ with their team rather than point out the bad? Or maybe you’re a leader where you know this needs some work within your organisation. At Well I Am we delve deep into helping leaders become more aware of the wellbeing of not only themselves but those around them in order to enhance overall workplace performance.

Celebrating 6 Years at Heath Consultants! I still vividly remember the day I applied for the Supervisor position. The night before the Area Manager's visit, I was torn between doubt and determination. But I took a deep breath and told myself, "Why not me?" The next day, I walked into the meeting room with confidence and a hint of Lincoln Hawk spirit ( Sylvester Stallone in Over the Top). When the Area Manager called my name for the interview, I was ready "flipped my hat around in my mind". I gave it my all, leaving everything on the table. That night, I received the offer, and it felt unstoppable! I vowed to become the best Supervisor Heath Consultants had seen. Six years later, I'm proud of my journey and grateful for the opportunities. Heath Consultants has been more than just a workplace - it's a family. Lessons learned: Take risks and believe in yourself. Prepare for the unexpected. Give it your all, always. #HeathConsultants #SixYearMilestone #CareerGrowth #Leadership #Determination #Gratitude
