Shady exhibitors should sleep with one eye open because PETA is always keeping tabs on roadside zoos that subject animals to miserable exploitation. Laws meant to protect animals at these seedy facilities are alarmingly inadequate—but as we have seen, many of these abysmal operations can’t even meet the bottom-of-the-barrel minimum standards of care. We ensure that roadside zoos don’t get off scot-free by contacting authorities when we receive tips from concerned individuals or when we see red flags on social media. Every time we alert officials to abuse and neglect at a roadside zoo, we get one step closer to shutting it down. We’ve exposed operations for denying animals adequate space and enrichment, for failing to provide animals with needed veterinary care, for confining animals to filthy enclosures, and for other apparent violations of the federal Animal Welfare Act (AWA). Over the past years, we’ve seen a promising spike in citations and inspections from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) that stemmed from our complaints. https://lnkd.in/eprsjaPi #RoadsideZoos #misery #animals #exploitation #NotOurs2Use #NotYourEntertainment #AnimalJustice #EndSpeciesism #AnimalLiberation

Greyhounds Australasia has FINALLY announced the phase-out of Surgical Artificial Insemination (SAI) for greyhounds after years of advocacy by animal advocates and activists, fighting for SAI to be banned. SAI requires an incision into the abdomen through all muscle layers to allow semen to be injected directly into the uterine horns of a female dog and the female dog must then carry her pups to full term, while healing from this invasie and painful procedure. While a SAI phase-out is a positive step, the greyhound industry is dragging its feet, continuing to profit from the suffering of greyhounds and allowing this practice to continue until 2026. This barbaric practice is already banned in many countries, including the UK, Norway, Sweden and the Netherlands. In late 2022, the Australian Veterinary Association issued its policy against SAI which said – “All states and territories in Australia should adopt the prohibition of surgical AI in dogs, in their respective Animal Welfare Acts.Veterinarians should phase-out the use of surgical AI by 1 January 2024.” . The industry must now transition to Transcervical Insemination (TCI), and we hope that greyhound breeding will be reduced from the current rates of around six times more dogs than can be rehomed. If the Industry continues to breed without a breeding cap, the wastage will continue with greyhounds dying, being killed and being discarded. We must maintain our pressure on the NSW government and the industry. For NSW residents, you can sign Animal Liberation's two parliamentary e-petitions below, demanding an immediate end to commercial greyhound racing in NSW. https://lnkd.in/gdPzxku8 https://lnkd.in/gHjGX7u9 We won't stop advocating until the industry is shut down #shutitdown #endanimalexploitation #greyhoundracing #endanimalcruelty #greyhoundracingnsw #gwi #greyhoundracingaustralasia

In order to guarantee the well-being of laying hens, it is essential to carry out daily checks on various aspects of their rearing. From thermal conditions to litter quality, attention and care are essential to ensure proper management. Check out the main points: 📌 Checking the facilities: Examine all the facilities on the farm, including the nests, drinkers, feeders and ventilation systems. Make sure they are clean and do not present a danger to the birds. Bedding condition: Make sure that the bedding used is clean, dry and in good condition. It is important that litter allows the birds to exercise their natural dust-bathing behavior. Access to perches: Ensure that the hens have easy access to the perches. Don't use excessive inclines, the birds should balance in a relaxed manner - the maximum angle is 45º. 🔗 Visit our website and find out more details 👉 https://lnkd.in/d9qGGbfF 👥 About us: Certified Humane® The Certified Humane® program adheres to the Humane Farm Animal Care Welfare Standards which use scientific research, veterinary advice, and the practical experience of farmers. The Animal Control Bylaw provisions lay down certain conditions for the upkeep of pets. The main conditions regarding unsanitary conditions are as follows: No one should maintain an animal in an unclean state within the municipality. Unsanitary conditions exist when the keeping of the animal results in an accumulation of fecal matter, odour, insect infestation, or rodent attractants that endanger the health of the animal or any person or that disturb or are likely to disturb the enjoyment, comfort, or convenience of any person in or around any dwelling, office, hospital, or commercial establishment. Apart from these conditions, there are specific needs that pet owners need to fulfill. Every individual who keeps an animal in the municipality must supply or cause the animal to be provided with the following: Clean, fresh drinking water and appropriate food in adequate amounts and quality enable average, healthy growth and the maintenance of normal, healthy body weight. To avoid contamination by excreta, food and water receptacles must be maintained clean, disinfected, and located. Periodic activity, which includes being free from a fixed place and exercising regularly under adequate regulation, is sufficient to sustain excellent health. When the animal shows indications of discomfort, disease, or suffering, veterinary medical attention is required. Anyone who disobeys the existing provisions is guilty of an offence and is liable to be penalized. Promoting animal welfare benefits both layers and producers with better quality of life for the hens as well as better quality and quatity of production results. ☝️✨ According to studies carried out by veterinarian, and member of Certified Humane's Scientific Committee, Prof. Dr. Rosangela Poletto, respecting welfare principles does improve egg production. 🥚 In addition to reduced mortality, free-range hens are more immunocompetent and build up more resistance to infectious diseases and possible stress from various factors. Producers also claim that the cage-free system generate a reduced number of sick chickens. In addition, free-range chickens have lower cortisol, the stress hormone, which has an impact on the quality of reproduction. 🐔 In other words, the welfare of the birds is reflected in a greater quantity of healthier eggs. 🔗 Check out more details about the Standards for Standards for Egg Laying Hens present in our program here 👉 https://lnkd.in/dT26i6FV. 👥 About us: Certified Humane The Certified Humane® program adheres to the Humane Farm Animal Care Welfare Standards which use scientific research, veterinary advice and the practical experience of farmers. Serving with my heart and dedicated towards strengthening the community spirit, speaking up and fighting for an even better Singapore for all.
[ Glue traps are killing protected species 😢 ] Quite shocking to hear that so many animals have been trapped in glue traps. ACRES (Animal Concerns Research & Education Society) had to save nearly 2,000 animals, 25% of them protected species from glue traps since 2014. In Parliament, I asked whether the Ministry will consider regulating the use of glue traps and having measures in place to ensure that cats and wild animals such as birds are not caught in such traps. Minister shared, "Glue traps are an effective tool for trapping and removing rats when used responsibly and safely. The then-Agri food and Veterinary Authority, in consultation with the National Environment Agency (NEA) and the Singapore Pest Management Association (SPMA), had issued guidelines to Pest Control Operators (PCOs) on the responsible use of glue traps. These include proper placement, limiting the sizes of traps and the appropriate response time for PCOs to attend to trapped animals. The National Parks Board (NParks), NEA and SPMA are currently reviewing the guidelines in consultation with animal welfare groups to reduce the likelihood of non-target animals being trapped and to render quicker assistance should they be accidentally trapped. When ready, the revised guidelines will be issued to the PCOs and published online." What do you think 🤔 Let me know your thoughts and I will help raise them in Parliament. Help spread the word 😊 Thanks! #LouisNgInParliament #WeLoveNeeSoonEast #NeeSoonCares #HomeWithAHeart

Multiple U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) reports underscore the Miami Seaquarium’s perpetual failure to provide adequate veterinary care, sufficient staffing, safe and well-maintained enclosures, and appropriate environmental enrichment for the animals housed there. Most recently, according to e-mails just obtained through a public records request, the facility’s veterinary staff were unable to provide even the minimum standards of animal care due to financial concerns. The Miami Seaquarium is understaffed, in debt, and failing to provide necessary care for the animals it exploits. Vet staff acknowledged this urgent issue, saying, “At this time we are reaching a point that we cannot even meet the US minimum standard of veterinary care for the animals …. [W]e are very worried about the level of care we are currently providing.” Until this hellhole closes down, people should stay far away and urge others to do the same. https://lnkd.in/gt4zNfRz #NotOurs2Use #CaptivityKills #EmptyTheTanks #LetThemBeFree #activism #activist #advocate #advocacy #animaljustice #animalliberationnow #MiamiSeaquarium #AnimalRights #AnimalSafety #AnimalWelfare
