Dunkin has quite a brand loyalty on the East Coast. I'm curious to see how Dutch Bros expansion plays out. They are certainly popular on the West Coast and have a strong, extremely loyal customer base. It is quite a commitment to their expansion efforts to spend approximately $41M to move 40% of their corporate operations to Arizona in order to support the expansion. “In January 2024 visits to Dutch Bros were 10% higher than in January 2023," the firm reported. Overall industry visited year over year "decreased by 2.7% during the same period.” The quote above stood out to me from the article linked below because discretional spending was high already in Jan. 2023. 10% higher in Jan. 2024 is impressive. In-store displays play an important role. What I know for sure is: * They build both awareness and consideration among shoppers. * They remove products from the shelf, functioning like in-store billboards. * They trigger higher sales, primarily from regular shelf placements. What else?

Right now, four of our core spirits are on sale at PA Fine Wine and Good Spirits stores, online for DTC shipping within PA, in our four tasting rooms in the Philadelphia area, and at area farmer’s markets where we sell. Our Summer Spirits Sale is a true cross-channel event, but still…larger brands’ sales across these retail channels dwarf our own. The difficulties of finding and keeping our best people, handling costs that somehow both fluctuate and stay high, and distinguishing between fads and legitimately new things add to stiff competition and tight regulations. It’s an uphill battle for us and other craft brands to break into our markets, find our fans, and stay fresh. But someone must do it to help expand ideas of what spirits can be. “Make your own real estate!” 🛒🔥 Retail shelf space is hyper competitive and expensive, but creativity is free. It costs nothing to pitch store-level decision makers on alternate displays for extra visibility. All it takes is one YES for a shot at an unforgettable brand block. We waited a while to invest in shippers thinking they were more of a beverage play, but now that we realize winning on shelf sometimes starts off-shelf, we’re leaning in with as many priceless ‘points of interruption’ as we can. Remarkable Retail - Austin! If you have been following the remarkable rise of the YETI brand, taking a commodity category that some vendors and retailers had gone the opposite way into low-cost disposable opening price point crap, to a whole new level of bespoke, high-performance colourful coolers, drinkware and plenty of other assorted related product lines, you would not be surprised that their flagship brand store in Austin is a head-turning experience and masterclass in branded retail. Steve Dennis and I visited early on a Friday afternoon. The store was in full swing, from the bar on the patio (note the YETI coolers as bar stools and the YETI cooler as a foozball game) through the front door to an 8,000 square foot store more like a brand theme park, with a live concert stage, custom drinkware etching via kiosk (1.5-hour wait...either need another machine or are making good margin at the bar) and big, bold merchandising that never loses track of the product as hero. There are missed opportunities, though, with little Austin-specific merch, the home base of the YETI brand. I left empty-handed because I could buy all these products in Toronto or online and didn't have a couple of hours to hang out for custom drinkware - which you can do online anyway here in Canada - too much other great retail to see!  #tre #retail #remarkableretail #experiencebrandstore #brand

The EG Group own Asda and Leon, and this photo was taken inside an Asda store. I just can't see why you would do this (even if you do own Leon's)?. Firstly, your average Asda shopper would be completely unaware of the Leon brand. Its primarily about plant based foods and all 'natural ingredients ', with a high price point and coffee is way down their overall brand credentials. So you are starting with a lack of brand awareness, and in this case, followed by poor execution. The unit isn't functioning properly, which will be down to staff training within the store who are unfamiliar with it. The digital screen is 'down loading media' which presumably would carry the pricing, so you have no idea of the cost, and the automatic milk well hasn't been filled, hence the 500ml milk container placed on the side. That would indicate you can only pour a black coffee. All together a bit of a pickle I think? #asda #Leon #coffee #shopping
