How many children died on the Titanic? There were 109 children onboard when the Titanic sank, as per a report. Close to 50% of the kids (57 to 60 Kids) died. Do you know what shocked me more? Only 1 child in the first class died. All the other kids who died were children of third-class passengers. This is because many third-class passengers were mistreated, denied lifeboats, and left to die due to socio-economic biases and prejudices. The Titanic sank 112 years ago on April 15, 1912. We still have the socio-economic divide, and the poor face the burn always. If you truly believe 'Everyone is Equal', we still have a long way to go in building an equal world for all. Volunteering is crucial in building an equal world apart from government policymaking, people’s perceptions, and many other factors. I believe that solid DEI Practitioners actually participate and practice community-specfic volunteering and advocacy where they live. It is how they continue to get first-hand continuous engagement with building equitable environments beyond the sanitized corporate environments.
