Our first event participation was a huge success, but it also revealed some interesting dynamics... We were honored to participate in the Hello Space festival, where students and seniors from across the country gathered. This event provided us with a valuable opportunity to raise awareness about the growing potential of recent AI innovations. During the event, we learned just how much students were using AI to help them with their schoolwork. Nearly all of our interactions revealed that students are currently or have previously used ChatGPT. We expected that many would have used it, but not at this scale. It's evident that AI already plays a significant role in the next generation's academic approach. We recognize that the primary LLM utilized by students, currently ChatGPT 3.5, is susceptible to inaccuracies. This presents a considerable risk, given that many students regard it as a reliable source of information. The handouts we distributed to students contained concise, practical prompting techniques, including role and context specification, and Chain of Thought reasoning. While these methods can indeed reduce inaccuracies, they do not completely eliminate them. This experience underscores a global imperative to educate students on the responsible use of AI tools and the importance of critical thinking in the digital age.

I wish I had known about this micro-summit a bit earlier. IIoT - OT integration is one of the "frontier" areas of technology at the moment (and frontiers are often subject to land-grabs). Two separate sets of incumbent suppliers; the IT and Networking vendors on one side and the Industrial Automation vendors on the other. And sitting on the side-lines, licking their lips are the hackers, as they contemplate the ever-growing attack surface of industrial networks. Industrial companies know they have to connect and digitise their assets to compete. But how to do it securely and efficiently? Providing the roadmap through this unfamiliar territory at Informa Tech's huge #blackhat Black Hat event is Omdia (& Informa Tech's) Hollie Hennessy and a select group of others (not many people understand this environment!) I bet this will be a fantastic set of sessions.

The Atlas of Variant Effects Alliance is an international collaborative effort with a mission to propel systematic measurements of variant impact on functional elements of human and pathogen genomes, towards diagnosing and treating human disease and understanding genes, gene products and their regulation.
