This year, DWT will be participating in Diversity Lab's "Moments to Movements Hackathon," where 100+ law firm partners and in-house counsel "hack" some of the toughest challenges facing DEI in the legal field and beyond—the latest effort in the firm's active and widely recognized dedication to developing solutions for workplace diversity, equity, and inclusion. The Hackathon unites leading legal minds and DEI experts for a "shark-tank style" pitch competition to devise "sustainable and scalable" solutions for organizations facing the headwinds of anti-DEI rhetoric and other challenges. Ideas will be pitched to eight judges and 200+ audience members at the NYU School of Law on July 11, with the winning plans potentially developing into Diversity Lab pilot programs at law firms and legal departments across the country. "As part of our Engagement pillar, collaborating with clients and the broader legal community is key to our DEI efforts," said Yusuf Zakir, our Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer.

CEO at Courtroom5 • ABA Legal Rebel • ABA Women of Legal Tech Honoree • Fastcase 50 • Techstars • Duke Law Tech Lab • LexisNexis Legal Tech Accelerator
🚀 **Empowering Innovation: Celebrating Black Women Legal Tech Founders** We are so excited and grateful to be recently recognized by Law.com’s Legaltech News in “Meet the Female Founders of Legal Tech”. We — Kimberly Y. Bennett (she/her) of fidu, Melissa R. Brogdon of FourthParty, Kisha A. Brown, Esq. of Justis Connection, and Sonja Ebron and Debra Slone of Courtroom5 — five Black women, stand at the forefront of innovation in the legal tech industry. Our journey is not just personal but a testament to the resilience, brilliance, and untapped potential within our community. In an industry where diversity remains a challenge, our presence is not merely symbolic; it's transformative. As Black women, we bring more than just technical expertise to the table; we bring an enduring empathy, a passionate drive, and a deep-rooted commitment to equity and justice. Our innovations aren't just about optimizing processes or maximizing profits; they're also about empowering individuals, enhancing access to justice, and creating a more inclusive legal ecosystem for all. More often than not, founders like us are bootstrapping beyond the prototype and spending 10x as long as others raising capital or securing partnerships. When we are well funded and supported, it’s not just about checking the DEI box; it’s about actively investing in a more robust #legaltech industry and equitable future for all. We intend to partner with each other and welcome working with others who want to go further together. We have full intentions through it all to pave the way for future generations of Black women in legal tech. Our voices matter, our perspectives are invaluable, and our contributions are critical to actualizing the possibilities of legal tech. #BlackWomenInTech #LegalTechFounders #DiversityInTech #Innovation #Empowerment #SupportBlackFounders Image credit: Chelsey Fredlund

In honor of Women’s History Month, Brooks Pierce is spotlighting women attorneys and senior staff at the firm. They will continue the conversation about women’s history and achievements this month by providing advice and insight about being a woman in the legal profession. Jessi Thaller-Moran, partner at Brooks Pierce, shares advice to women starting a legal career: "One piece of legal advice to women starting a legal career is that there are a million ways to advocate for your client. Loudest and most combative is not always the most effective. Use the beginning of your career as an excuse to “try on” advocacy styles from mentors, friends, colleagues, even people you spot in the courtroom or across the table at a deal. You will be at your best as a lawyer when you are authentic to your personal strengths." Learn more on our website: https://lnkd.in/eZxV7ndu
