This photo was taken on September 18, 2023, the first day of what turned out to be a six-week antitrust class action trial in federal court in Chicago that resulted in a defense verdict. After taking a few days to decompress, unwind, and reflect, I feel very lucky to have been a part of this case and trial for the following reasons: (1) the overall success of the case, which was filed in 2016 after an investigation of anticompetitive conduct in the broiler chicken industry that resulted in significant pretrial settlements; (2) the privilege of representing the class of 3,004 small-to-medium-size businesses that directly purchased broiler chicken from the defendants; (3) the hard work that went into preparing for and trying an antitrust class action to verdict; (4) being on the right side of justice in seeking to enforce the United States competition laws; and (5) the amazing trial team that I had the great honor of being a part of. To quote the great Pat Riley, “you have no choice about how you lose, but you do have a choice about how you come back and prepare to win again.” In this case, we may have lost the final battle, but we won the war by securing substantial pretrial settlements on behalf of the class. I will keep fighting the good fight, doing the hard work, and will be prepared to win the next one!

🎉 Another Success Story from Our Legal Team! 🎉 Exciting news: Attorneys Jake Jones and Josh Bolduc secured summary judgment in arbitration! Our client, a reputable grocery store chain, faced a lawsuit from a former employee who alleged an injury from slipping on a small drop of liquid on the floor. The plaintiff argued that the liquid constituted an unreasonably dangerous condition, placing blame on our client for not warning or removing it. However, our legal team presented a compelling case: 1️⃣ Our client had no prior notice of the dairy spill. 2️⃣ The size and inconspicuousness of the spill made it hard to detect. 3️⃣ Plaintiff's speculation about an employee causing the spill lacked evidence, considering the spill occurred in a public grocery aisle. The arbitrator sided with our arguments, granting our motion and dismissing the case entirely! This victory underscores our commitment to defending our clients with strong legal strategies. #LegalVictory #SummaryJudgment #ArbitrationSuccess #NonsubscriberEmployer #ClientSuccess #LegalExcellence
