Promoter and Designer of State-of-the-Art Transportation Systems that Maximize Passenger Throughput while Stimulating Economies and Preserving the Environment

Is it just me, a Gen X'er (Born between '64 and '82), or is the Civil Engineering job market the hottest is has ever been for the past quarter century? For two decades now, I've heard "hype" that a whole bunch of jobs would open up as the Baby Boomers (Born between '46 and '64) retire. Unfortunately, retiring Baby Boomers had their positions eliminated after they retired. This has been the case for at least two decades due to a very weak job market. Gen X at a whole experienced numerous layoffs and prolonged periods of unemployment. Many left the profession completely. Can we blame them? How did we get here? I think there was a generation that may have tilted the scales toward "me" instead of "we". Additionally, almost no Civil Engineers participate in Legislative Days at the Capitol. This is in stark contrast to Lawyers who relish such opportunities. With so many Gen X'ers leaving the profession, how do we address the "missing middle" at firms and agencies? How can we get Civil Engineers as engaged in Conferences and Days at the Capitol as Lawyers? #civilengineering #transportationmanagement #trafficengineering #transportationplanning. By the way, Happy National Engineers Week.
