‘Learn the things that they don’t teach you at college.’ It’s always great to have customer’s apprentices visiting the workshops. Here they get to see the things that aren’t taught at college. These three apprentices are getting an appreciation of electric motor failures and what’s done to put them right. If you’ve got apprentices and you’d like to give them an appreciation of electric motors, please get in touch. Obviously, as they’re here and have met our MD Matt Fletcher 🇬🇧, they’re now going to follow his #GetTooledUp campaign to get decent quality tools into the hands of apprentices for free. #apprentices #apprenticeengineers #engineering #ukmanufacturing #maintenanceandrepair #maintenanceengineering #maintenancemanager

Bob, our Academy Lead and wizard, not only guides the ship but also imparts his extensive knowledge in Electrical and PLCs, often referred to as "dark arts" in jest. His expertise forms the backbone of our apprenticeship program. 👨🏫 Martin - Adding Blow Moulding Expertise to the Mix! Martin, the newest member of our team, is quickly learning the ropes and bringing his wealth of experience in Blow Moulding. His addition, enthusiasm and good nature enriches our apprentices' learning experience with real-world insights. 👨🏫 Andrew (Me) - Teaching Fluid Power, Mechanical Subjects, and Other Social Ineptitudes! Yes, that's right, I'm Andy! I'm here to share my knowledge in fluid power, mechanical subjects, and, as a self-proclaimed expert, navigate the "other social ineptitudes." Together with Bob and Martin, we're committed to providing a well-rounded education for our apprentices. 🚀 Growth Update: From 8 to 55 Apprentices in 2024! In September 2021, Bob started with our first cohort of 8 apprentices. Fast forward to 2024, and our apprenticeship family has grown to an impressive 55 over 8 cohorts! Today, meet Salutatorian Landon Doty of the WECA Utah Commercial Electrical Apprenticeship Class of 2024. He works for WECA Utah Founding Member Contractor Hunt Electric, Inc. "Having gone to other schools first, I can confidently say that I would love to have started from the beginning with WECA," says Landon. "We discussed some of the curriculum that my class didn't get to cover elsewhere, and some of the material that we did get to cover at WECA...I can only imagine how much better it would be to have gone through WECA sooner." "WECA is fun. Having many more labs than previous schools was a treat. WECA also gave me access to many concepts, products, and scenarios that I had never seen until it was required of me. I can now more confidently approach numerous uncommon tasks. I have spent many hours being moved around with tasks and learning new ways of approaching tasks. Learning to install is important, but having the chance to learn how to learn has been greatly beneficial," continues Landon. Congratulations, Landon! Favorite quote from this article: “I would recommend a youth apprenticeship program to anyone. Not only are you helping a young kid see a rewarding career in manufacturing, but you are also helping yourself and your company learn how to teach the younger generation." Co-founder/COO Matt Brunner of Brunner Fabrication LLC I love to see employers embracing and evangelizing this new role for themselves as co-leaders in the education of young people. When a young person chooses an apprenticeship, they aren't choosing to forego higher education. They are instead choosing a path that combines learning from teachers in a classroom and learning from skilled professionals in the workplace. Great article, Lincoln Brunner! #youthapprenticeship #employerengagement #apprenticeship #youthapprenticeships
Really wonderful to see my hometown of City of Manitowoc mentioned. As California thinks about #youthapprenticeships (and other mechanisms that blur the lines between secondary and postsecondary, with the intent to accelerate), we could take useful direction from what WI has been doing for decades. When I graduated, in 2000, some of my peers left mid day to head to apprenticeships, and WI is still at it 24 years later, and it's meeting the needs of young people and businesses. https://lnkd.in/g_YxbYf2
