I help nonprofits deepen connections to constituents, donors, & employees through empathy and storytelling.🍋 | Messaging & Content Strategy | Strategic Communications | Engagement & Growth | Fundraising
❓Are there too many nonprofits? (2 M and counting). ❓Are too many small orgs springing up and should that energy go into supporting existing ones? ❓Should there be more mergers? We got into a very interesting discussion about nonprofit landscape. 🖤I will absolutely acknowledge that some orgs address new or unique needs that are not being addressed. 🖤Some orgs commemorate loved ones and are deeply emotional. While I sincerely empathize with intent, I still see these as competing for dollars and volunteers while it is extremely difficult to stand up a viable operation. 😮I looked at Guidestar and typed in search “cancer” - 12,991 results. In fairness a few of these reference cancer but not soley focused on it. Most are cancer orgs from ACS and Komen to very local ones. There are without a doubt inefficiencies and competition for funds. So how do we maximize collective impact and allow families to carry forward a legacy of their loved ones? #nonprofit #philanthropy Andrew Olsen

As I prepare to relaunch KINNECT (follow us on IG for the announcement!), I’d love to invite my communities, near and far, to celebrate with me by donating virtually or attending physically for a night that doubles as a fundraiser. Bring your friends, parents, and favorite cousin - an old high school friend -- for community, performances, and food. Best part? It’s also a fundraiser! All proceeds go to Imerman Angels, a non-profit I had *no idea* my buddy was using before he passed — until I told his wife (who’s flying in for the event! <3)—a moment of divine wonder. I don't fit the typical 'tech' mold, which is partly why I took so long to jump into founding. This fundraiser is my way of showing everyone — from our current and future members to investors and community — that as KINNECT grows, so does our commitment to giving back in a way that feels real to me: in spaces that welcome everyone. And to my first-degree connections in Chicago — I realize approving my intern's campaign idea that called us 'old' might have been a little… well, you know, a gut-punch… haha! She’s not wrong tho 😭 . So, if that rubbed you the wrong way, feel free to channel your 'anger' into a generous donation at the link below! ;P #startup #fundraising #cancerawareness #consumertech #techforgood

Do you know about CYB's point of donation software platform Give A Little? It helps charities make the transition to cashless fundraising and is used by the likes of Cancer Research UK (CRUK), Oxfam and The Church of England. Give A Little's Product Manager James Alden has written about how it all works, and how adopting lean methods lead to a 50% increase in donation value on the platform last year. 🌟 Exciting News & A Call for Support! 🌟 After a refreshing family holiday where I focused on connecting my kids with their relatives, I’m back on LinkedIn with a purpose-driven challenge. At The Transformation Group, we’re fortunate to align our professional values with meaningful causes. I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be supporting our primary charity partner, Tour de Cure Australia, by taking on a personal challenge: running 50km to raise funds for cancer research with Suncorp Group the sponsor of the event. Having recently completed a 450km cycling challenge, this run feels like a different kind of uphill battle without the luxury of training. The cause hits close to home as my wife’s family has recently faced a heartbreaking loss due to cancer. This run is dedicated to all the families affected by this disease, and I’m committed to giving it my best shot despite my fears of injury (currently dealing with two strained calf muscles so can't run more than 8k). Here’s where I’d deeply appreciate your support: Donations: Every contribution helps us get closer to a cure. Training Tips: With only 2 weeks to prepare, any advice on running, nutrition, or injury prevention would be incredibly valuable. Moral Support: Just knowing you’re cheering me on would mean the world! Feel free to contribute or share your insights via the link below. Let’s come together to make a difference! https://lnkd.in/gRajRPQ2 - team of 1 Thank you for your support and encouragement! #CharityChallenge #CancerResearch #RunningForACause #SupportAndDonate #MakeADifference

This month we are featuring Wolfiethon Team Captian Director, Sofia Mulligan. Keep reading to learn more about Sofia’s involvement and dedication to the cause on her campus, Stony Brook University 🎗️ ⭐ Q: What inspired you to get involved with Wolfiethon/B+? A: Upon meeting my org’s B+ Hero, Sabrina, I knew Wolfiethon was something I wanted to become more involved with because the impact we have is so tangible and profound. I went on to become my sorority’s team captain, which gave me the opportunity to grow closer with B+ Hero Sabrina and see how our hard work and fundraising manifests to help families with children fighting cancer. I’m now part of the Wolfiethon Executive Board for the 2024-25 academic year! ⭐ Q: What is your best fundraising tip? A: Leverage your personal connections by sharing your story and passion for the cause— bring it back to WHY you’re raising money. Personalizing your outreach makes it more compelling and encourages others to contribute! ⭐ Q: What is the greatest lesson you've learned from your involvement with B+? A: The greatest lesson I’ve learned is the power of community and collaboration— when people come together with a shared goal, they can make a significant impact on individual lives. Even the smallest of contributions can make a huge impact! ⭐ Q: What advice would you give to someone who wants to get more involved with B+? A: Familiarize yourself with The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation: their mission, goals, and initiatives (you can learn a lot by visiting their website or their Instagram or Facebook pages). The next step would be to try to connect with organizations that have partnered with B+ at your school, and contribute in any way that you can— volunteer, fundraiser or donate, spread awareness, and participate in events!

As we enter October, I'm reminded of the power of community and the impact we can make when we come together for a cause. This month marks the start of Hockey Fights Cancer, an initiative that unites the hockey community in support of cancer patients and their families. I'm proud to share that my son, Max, is participating in the "October Saves" challenge as part of this broader initiative. As the goalie for the Worcester Railers Mite Blue team, he's pledged to make 50 saves in 4 games this month, with each save raising funds for cancer research and patient support programs. This experience has taught our family valuable lessons: The importance of giving back to our community How sports can be a powerful vehicle for social good The resilience and determination of those fighting cancer every day I'm sharing this not just as a proud parent, but as a professional who believes in the power of purpose-driven initiatives. It's inspiring to see how organizations like the NHL and grassroots programs are leveraging their platforms to make a difference. If you're interested in supporting Max's effort or learning more about Hockey Fights Cancer, I've included a link Below. Every save, every share, and every donation brings us one step closer to our goal. Let's use our networks for good. Together, we can make a significant impact in the fight against cancer. https://lnkd.in/e-6bEXx7 #HockeyFightsCancer #OctoberSaves #CorporateSocialResponsibility #CommunityImpact #SportsForGood
