It feels really great to be part of this amazing clean energy transition. It's happening in front of our eyes: all that solar mentioned in this video will need storage to even out the electricity flow. That's why I find the integration of BESS (battery energy storage systems) so rewarding: every project brings us closer to a sustainable energy future.
Built nearly 100 years ago, the Hoover Dam is a hallmark of big and bold action in the U.S.
We invested in America then and, under the Biden-Harris Administration, we’re investing in America now.
By 2030, we expect to add the equivalent of over 300 Hoover Dams-worth of clean energy to our grid.

It takes an active government to build the infrastructure needed to keep the country running optimally.
About 100 years ago the U.S. made investments in key infrastructure that pumped our economy and created valuable sources for its long-term future. That investment was the last significant one until the Biden-Harris Administration pressed for one. Once again the U.S. is making some critical investments that will create jobs, provide training, and spurring economic growth.
As a an added benefit, this time around more stakeholders are being brought into the process to ensure more positive benefits all around.

ISO New England Inc. is operating the power grid today while planning for the grid of the future 💡
Learn more about the 2050 Transmission Study in a recent Op-Ed in Commonwealth Magazine, linked below.
For the first time, New England has a detailed analysis of the investment needed to ensure clean energy will be able to reliably move around the region. "Replacement" of Snake River hydroelectric generating capacity with wind power would have dire environmental consequences. West Coast wind power is only feasible in gaps between West Coast mountain ranges and along West Coast ridges where strong winds are found. These same locations are precisely the choke points that control inland penetration of the inherently low altitude wintertime atmospheric rivers upon which the Western US, its rivers, and its fish and wildlife depend for water. Further obstructing these critical sea-to-land atmospheric moisture transport pathways with wind turbines would enlarge and intensify the rain shadows that characterize the American West and would reduce runoff in western watersheds including the Snake River Basin, the Colorado River Basin, the Great Basin. Both upstream and downstream fish passage technology have evolved to meet the challenge of restoring salmon runs with the Snake River dams intact. Removal of the Snake River dams in the name of political expediency would be contrary to both environmental and national interest.

Read my statement released today expressing alarm over a secret deal made public earlier this week that initiates steps to breach the Lower Snake River Dams in the Pacific Northwest.
This backroom deal could jeopardize reliable, affordable power for thousands of electric cooperative members in the Pacific Northwest and undermine the administration's misplaced approach to reliable energy production in the U.S.

It was great to see my article on the electrification of commercial fleets being published by Smart Energy International.
With predictable routes and regular operations, most depot-based fleets are low-hanging fruits for electrification.
However, the growth of localised electricity demand for fleets will pose specific challenges to our energy system.
In this piece, I touch upon some of the main issues DSOs, energy suppliers and generators face as we electrify commercial road transport.
Thank you Smart Energy International for the space!
Fortune 500 companies and reputable suppliers will view the Maryland consumer market as essentially closed for business if SB 1 is signed. This will set the energy market back 100 years and tell Maryland customers who shop the retail market their choices do not matter. #ChooseWhoYouUse to keep the power in the end and preserve energy choice. Veto SB 1.

As we learned in our debut “Competitiveness Conversation Across America” from Tennessee Valley Authority CEO Jeff Lyash, it took America ~100 years to build its electricity system. However, the country now faces an unprecedented challenge & opportunity: how will we expand & modernize that system in less than two decades to meet skyrocketing energy demand & fuel U.S. innovation? Check out the stark challenge in a special insight from the Council on Competitiveness & Keybridge here: https://lnkd.in/eU6Dmfic
