This week, the ELVIS (Ensuring Likeness Voice and Image Security) Act was passed into law in the state of Tennessee, making this state the first in the U.S. to introduce legislation to govern the use of AI in creating music-based content. The act intends to prevent people from misusing AI to create an artist's voice without their permission. Breaking this law is considered a Class A misdemeanor, punishable by sentences up to 11 months, 29 days in jail and/or fines up to $2,500.00. If jail time can be avoided by paying a fine, it's hard to see how this will act as a deterrent, and artists should continue to have "Suspicious Minds" regarding the use of AI in their industry. #AI #generativeai #responsibleai #aimusic Thinkers360 Info-Tech Research Group
