I joined our “OG” Chicago branch in 2017 when I was just a little 21-year-old baby looking for a place to settle! I started out as a Start Tech and worked my way up to a Reg Tech, Field Manager, Service Manager, Operations Manager, and now a General Manager of the Chicago North Branch! 🎉 🔹 What is your favorite part of your job? Everyone thinks it’s cheesy when managers or employers say this, but it truly is the people I work for. 🛡️💙 I love coming in each day with the goal to genuinely help my employees. I pride myself on creating as diverse and inclusive atmosphere as possible at my branch and our employees truly feel it! 🔹 What's one thing you would tell someone who was thinking about working at EcoShield? Do it. Even if you have some doubts, push those away and just do it. 💪 🔹 If you could pick just one, what would your "spirit bug" be? Hmmm. I would have to choose a honey bee! 🐝 I am super docile and just want to do my job all day every day! I won’t sting, as long as you don’t come after me or my people. 😜 🔹 Who would win in a fight: you or a Tarantula Hawk Spider Wasp? Pshhh it only sounds scary. Just give me a 25-foot pole and I’ll knock their nest right down no sweat. 😅 Maybe give me a bee suit first... or at least a can of wasp freeze. 😂 🔹 What's your secret talent/a fun fact about you? I have an identical twin sister! We are both managers in pest control. 🐜🚫 Not only is it rare to have women in pest control, but two identical twins is crazy! To be a fly one the wall at our family gatherings... it’s quite entertaining so I’ve been told. I guess it runs in the family! 👯 🔹 What is one word you would use to describe EcoShield? Life-Changing. 🙌

We’ve been doing this Brightside Collective thing for less than a month now, and already? Well, we’ve learnt a lot. Let’s just say that. Apart from navigating new biz ownership and ALL THE things that go with it, we’ve found that the many businesses we’ve met with and plan to meet with in the new year have people + talent problems outside of recruitment that we ACTUALLY have the power to help solve. Like getting the right eye balls on ad-copy and then the right people to apply is hard yakka. We know that first hand. But we also have a few good recipes up our sleeve that we reckon can help many businesses change the way they attract the right talent. Now is most definitely not the time to be talking about all of this. We get it. But next year? ICYMI Super excited about my new adventure at Groundswell! And if you saw my post and didn't know what I was getting into...here's a summary. (Also, if you're in the #CSR or #socialimpact space, let me know as I'd love to chat and pick your brain!) So what do we do? Groundswell is a corporate giving and volunteering platform that helps increase the impact 💰 and reduce the administrative burden of corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs. Most employees have no idea (or they forget) about their company matching programs and those funds never make it to charities. And if they do request a match it can take up to 90 days to get there 😱 We're focused on empowering employees to be super givers and making it easier for companies to roll out these programs. The team is amazing and I can't wait to see what we can do (also, if you have a matching/giving/volunteering program, don't forget to use it!).

By far, 2023 and 2024 have been the most exciting years in business. These are the first years we have taken intentional steps to be strategic. To call these years a roller coaster ride would be an understatement. Yet, I am so grateful for these hard-learned lessons and the fruit it's brought to the company and its employees. This is a follow-up post to my post a couple of weeks ago about using The Six Types of Working Genius assessment as a model to help us understand our team. What a fantastic model to help understand the types of work people enjoy or can be frustrated by. A huge shoutout to Cindi Harris for walking us through this process. We're still putting on the finishing touches, but if you want to understand your team and how they operate, I recommend engaging in this type of assessment. The amount of work involved is minimal, yet the results produce a yield that feels exponential. For anyone who already understands the model, my Genius returned with G and W. Today marks my one year anniversary at Placer.ai. 365 days in the blink of an eye! Reflecting on the past year fills me with gratitude not only for what we've accomplished but for the incredible milestones ahead. I "found" this industry over ten years ago with a little bit of luck and almost by mistake. At the time, I was buying media for a brand and was perplexed by a problem: our mobile advertising didn't convert. But why? I set out on a path to find a company that could help solve that problem, and it unlocked a series of events that has turned location analytics into my career path. Since then, I've had the honor of working with some of the world's largest brands and organizations to uncover use cases far beyond media. It has been 10 years full of learning, asking questions, and creatively solving for big, real world problems in retail, commercial real estate, marketing, strategy, tourism, financial services, and more. A decade in, I find myself more excited than ever. I am proud to work for the market leader in location analytics and look forward to many years of growth and success to come. Aw bless 19-year-old me working at Dixons in Croydon. What a waste of time... It's easy to get caught up in spending time reflecting on things we've done in the past. It feels good sometimes right? There's nothing wrong with it unless it gets out of hand. The posts on my Facebook feed that seem to get the most activity are when people publish pictures of Commercial Road in Portsmouth from the 80's - and everyone bangs on about how great things were back then, and how awful they are now. 🤣 People seem to enjoy comparing 'then' to 'now' and spending time going on about the difference. But - is it helpful? If you're reminiscing because it feels nice - yes that's a great way to spend time if that's what your aim is. My view - and it may be unpopular - is that what I did years ago has little impact on the person I am today, unless... 💥 We take time to consider what we've learned 💥 Decide how we want to show up today 💥 Consider the impact we have on people TODAY In the Continue & Begin® course, we talk about '20-20's. These are the people in your business who have been here 20 years, but they don't have 20 years of experience. Instead, all they've done is repeat year one 20 times, but they've never developed. And their claim to fame? 🙌🏻 "I've been here 20 years!" 🙌🏻 (You know you've got someone in mind already haven't you?) ✅ Anyway - that 19-year-old there in that picture, is about to make a ton of mistakes, and get things wrong. Luckily, I've learned from some of 'em. 🫣 A good one is... 'never get blonde streaks in my hair again - just because everyone else is doing it!'
