shamelessly stolen from another linkedin post, but I laughed a little too hard at this.

Consistently posting on LinkedIn is a challenge and I won't lie about it. I set up a 30-day challenge for myself, but I’ve encountered more setbacks than I ever imagined. From network issues to power outages and other uncontrollable factors, it's been tough. Recently, a protest in my country disrupted the network for several days (I’m still unsure how the two are connected). But don’t worry, I've got you covered. I’ll be posting four pieces of content today at 2-3 hour intervals to make up for the missed days. What's been your biggest obstacle in staying consistent with your LinkedIn posts?

To anyone who is trying to understand what happened to my Twitter (now X) account - I'm not sure. I was actually on it a moment ago, looking at posts of people I follow, and sending a podcast related message, and then, for some reason, I was suddenly looking at a message that my account has been "locked because of unusual activity". (Unless they mean that me being active on what used to be Twitter is unusual, because I have definitely been far less active since Twitter got X-ed, I can't honestly see what they mean.) The supposed unlocking authentication didn't work because "it wasn't quite right" - I get that, I wasn't sure what they wanted from me in the first place, it wasn't your bog standard authentication. So I'm posting this to indicate that 1) I am still me and my Twitter (X) has (probably?) not been hijacked; 2) The sudden absence of me on said platform is not down to anything unusual, not as far as I can tell, because until the platform itself said there was unusual activity, everything was going as it usually does, 3) I can be contacted as usual via LinkedIn, my email and various other platforms, but I will see what happens with Twitter (now X). For the longest time, I've been wondering if I should just give in and let it go, and the reason I didn't is because there are still many truly wonderful people on the platform whose posts I love interacting with. But if this interaction will now be unusual somehow, or if every time I go to the platform, I will be experiencing difficulties, maybe it is time to say goodbye. It's a little sad, but the thing about life is that things come and go. I am very much happy to invite people who follow me to reconnect with me elsewhere, as I probably should have done a long time ago. It's so odd, this was literally in the midsts of looking up Dr Ann Wand, DPhil (Oxon) and EASA posts (the anthro EASA)...so not precisely a controversial part of the platform either, and the message was to the podcast The Consult, as I will be mentioning their podcast in my own in the next episode and it's my policy to always contact people whose work I directly mention...also not exactly anything controversial or shady! (They have a great podcast, go check it out if you are at all interested in criminal profiling. https://lnkd.in/efVQwUS7 ) Well, at least there's a record of what happened here if anyone wonders what happened. I certainly am! #socialmedia #twitter #anthropology #podcast

UPDATE: My personal LinkedIn account was hacked into on Thursday, and the hacker deleted every single thing I have posted since joining Linkedin in 2006 (amounting to thousands of posts). I regained access to my account on Saturday, but Linkedin claims that they do not retain anyone's data so that if a hacker deletes something, it is gone forever. After using this platform for the last 18 years, cultivating it as an asset and tool in my career, and contributing substantially to Linkedin's platform by curating regular content for my 11K+ followers, Linkedin says they have no ability to restore the lost data. Neither have they given me any information regarding the hacker, who clearly targeted me personally with this attack. BE CAREFUL USING THIS PLATFORM. I am seriously rethinking whether I should be on here, and certainly will be reducing my usage.
FYI, my Linkedin profile was hacked approximately 13 hours ago. They appear to have removed all of my posts and most of my professional experience, but beyond that I am not clear on what has happened or the motivation. I was finally able to regain access to this account just now. If anyone has contacted you on my behalf during this period of time, please ignore or report it, & please let me know. I am investing the matter with LinkedIn. Thank you.

How to trim your LinkedIn list of people who just don’t get that this is a business platform, not Facebook casual Friday every day… Step 1) Disconnect from people who post political BS from either party. Step 2) Repeat. Step 3) Don’t do it yourself.

Open question for CISOs charged with protecting your organization's social media presence (for a story I'm researching): In the wake of the SEC et al getting caught out by having a corporate social media account (X/Twitter) get compromised: 1) What *should* organizations be doing? 2) In particular, how does *your* organization safeguard its official social media account on X (or elsewhere)? Is this a job for Hootsuite, Sprout Social or another tool? 3) Have you (successfully/not) used Twitter's Delegate feature, or have any other experiences to share? I'm all ears if anyone might want to share and/or sound off. Feel free to DM me too; happy to work with anonymous insights or advice. (NB Rachel Tobac on Jan. 10 posted an excellent “Account Takeover Prevention Guide.” https://lnkd.in/e27Chmcx ... Again, I'm wondering what business/corporate Twitter account wranglers are doing, challenges they're experiencing, etc.)
