A new tropical wave located over the eastern tropical #Atlantic has a 60% chance of developing into a tropical cyclone in the next 7 days, per the National Hurricane Center. This wave has good model support for development, with both the American and European models forecasting formation. This wave will need to be watched down the road as it threatens the Lesser and Greater Antilles. Tropical Storm Risk has issued their monthly forecast for 2024's North Atlantic hurricane activity. A hyper-active season is still predicted, but with an update - the basin's Accumulated Cyclone Energy (ACE) index could be record-breaking. This, coupled with persistently high oceanic heat across the North Atlantic and Caribbean seas, have increased our anticipated number of tropical storms, hurricanes, and intense hurricanes.
