🚀We are thrilled to announce that Spacemanic was selected as a member of the NewSpace Advisory Board of the European Space Agency - ESA. 🪐The board’s primary mission is to provide ESA with insights and recommendations to shape a comprehensive commercialization policy and guide ESA's transformation to meet New Space demands. This includes navigating a business landscape characterized by a mix of institutional and commercial customers, intense international competition, and the need for both institutional support and private investment. 🛰️Since Spacemanic has played an active role in the NewSpace community for years, we believe that we can contribute useful advice and help shape the future of the NewSpace sector using the experience and expertise we gained while working on the 8 NewSpace satellite missions we sent to space up till now. Other members of the board include AIKO, ConstellR, D-Orbit, EnduroSat, Exolaunch, GeoVille, Iceye, Infinite Orbits, Kayrros, Open Cosmos, Pangea Aerospace, Rocket Factory Ausburg and The Exploration Company. Very interesting paper from Jack van Loon ESA Technology and team, discussing a concept of having a rotating spacecraft. Similar to what we saw in Kubrik’s movie, 2001:A Space Odyssey. We are excited to share a video showcasing the deployment of the LP-PWI boom of Juice spacecraft. This boom houses the Langmuir probes, which are part of the Radio and Plasma Wave Investigation of the Juice mission. The LP-PWI boom is a two-segment, non-synchronized boom with no dampers, resulting in a very dynamic deployment. The sound was created using vibration signals measured in space by HAA (High Accuracy Accelerometer, which is part of 3GM Radio Science Experiment), matched with the ground testing video of the same deployment. This “galactic bird” has a main reflector in the medium gain antenna and some auxiliary elements that GOIMEK, in collaboration with Sener Aerospace & Defence, was in charge of manufacturing. One more example of our high precision machining capabilities. From a solid block of titanium weighing 180 kilos, a filigree of just one kilo, 500 millimeters in diameter and 0.7 millimeters thick is obtained. The future arrives: Zenno Astronautics’s superconducting technology opens up a universe of new possibilities in space Zenno Astronautics has celebrated the first space launch of Z01™, its world-first superconducting magnetic torquer for fuel-free spacecraft attitude control. Zenno’s in-orbit validation of Z01 is the first-ever demonstration of high-temperature superconducting electromagnets in space, unlocking new possibilities for space operations in close proximity and beyond. Zenno’s Z01 SuperTorquer lifted off into space on December 1, 2023, at 10:19 a.m. (PT) on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, “Korea 425” mission, from Space Launch Complex 4 East (SLC-4E) at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, hosted on an orbital transfer vehicle from D-Orbit, a company leader in the space logistics industry. D-Orbit’s ION Satellite Carrier will deploy after lift-off into a 560km Sun Synchronous Orbit on its “Beyond” mission.
