I got an idea for a song using as instruments only my hands and mouth. This song is a challenge in many ways, like the 3/4 meter, the middle-east style, and of course - not using any samples than what I'm recording. Disclaimer, I'm not a singer ... still, that didn't stop me from doing what I love, that is - producing, mixing and mastering music. I usually post these on Instagram. This is an exception. I like using music analogies for our lasers at Tulon Photonics. Optical resonators or optical tuning forks are not much different from any stringed instrument. A basic optical resonator formed by a mirror, empty space, then another mirror is pretty much like a guitar or violin string. The guitar string has different resonant modes to which it can fit half a wavelength more. Longitudinal modes in wave mechanics, overtones, as they're called in music. 😊 https://lnkd.in/gWSPHeZ3 Exciting these modes on an optical resonator is not as simple as plucking the guitar string. However, on the guitar, one can excite different modes by forcing an antinode (no net movement) at that location. A difficult technique pioneered by Swedish guitarist Mattias IA Eklundh.
