📣 Clarification on the Spear's Awards: Integrity Matters! With the submission deadline for the Spear's Awards fast approaching this Friday, 5th of July, I've been receiving a lot of emails from firms and advisers asking, "How much does it cost to win an award or to be shortlisted for the Spear's Awards?" I honestly find these questions quite alarming. At Spear's, we take immense pride in maintaining the highest standards of integrity. So, just to set the record straight: 🔹 All nominations are made on merit. There is no charge to apply, be considered for an award, be nominated, or to win an award from Spear’s. 🔹 No commercial relationships influence the outcome. Our decisions are based solely on the achievements and contributions of the nominees. We are fortunate that our revenue model enables us to run the Spear's 500 (ranking the leading private client advisers) and The Spear's Awards (the 'Oscars' of the private client industry) without compromising our integrity. We believe in celebrating genuine excellence and recognising those who truly deserve it. Our commitment to these principles ensures that the Spear's Awards remain prestigious and respected, and that our audience—(U)HNWs and the leading private client community—continues to recognise Spear’s as the leading provider of authoritative information in the private client space. If you or your firm has had a successful year that fits under one of the 18 award categories, we encourage you to apply by July 5th. Please apply via the submission link below! https://lnkd.in/gA8-9XsQ Good luck, and we look forward to celebrating with you! #SpearsAwards #Integrity #PrivateClientIndustry #Awards Spear's Magazine

Continuing our weekly member highlight, we interview Mike Gabor, past SCAPR President 2023! Background: I’ve supported National Security Space for 30 yrs, including 10 yrs Civil Service at AFRL, USSPACOM, and AFSPC. For the last 20 yrs, working for defense contractors as an engineer, mission architect, functional and P&L manager, and business development (BD) lead. I have engaged in almost every DoD space mission as a performer, manager, or BD representative. Since 2022, I have been the VP of BD for Millennium Space Systems, a Boeing Company. I oversee the entire new business portfolio, BD processes, and capture of new orders. What’s exciting about working at Millennium is delivering high-performance small satellite constellations in incredibly fast timelines. What do you value about being a SCAPR member? I’m part of a community with shared experiences and interests, facilitating bonding with industry peers. SCAPR is a learning and networking opportunity. For anyone looking to grow and advance their career, a solid network is essential. Additionally, SCAPR uniquely focuses on the SoCal-area and local DoD space acquisition customers. The monthly luncheons enable me to stay current with USSF org changes and hear directly from acquisition leaders about priorities and upcoming opportunities. Why did you decide to join the SCAPR Board? I felt I could positively contribute to SCAPR through service on the board. I never envisioned a global pandemic that would shut down the U.S., halting all in-person events. We quickly pivoted to hosting events online and extending memberships through the pandemic. I’m proud we maintained relevance while continuing to provide a valuable service. Additionally, as president, SCAPR more than doubled its annual donations to local SoCal military and STEM-related nonprofit organizations. Where would you like to see SCAPR in ten years? The Space Force market and industry are in the midst of revolutionary changes. Traditional procurement processes are being upended to deliver new space capability to warfighters on shorter timelines. New companies are entering the market with innovative products and services. I want SCAPR to expand their membership to embrace these new players, including companies that sell directly to government customers or to prime contractors. Favorite joke? Three strings walk into a bar and see a sign: “No strings allowed.” The first string asks the bartender for a drink. The bartender says, “Can’t you read? We don’t serve strings.” The string leaves. The second string asks the bartender for a drink. The bartender says, “I told your buddy, no strings allowed.” The string leaves. The third string needs a new approach. He contorts his body into twists and loops. He then reaches up and pulls his end apart into separate strings. He asks the bartender for a drink. The bartender pauses and then asks, “Hey, aren’t you a string?” The string answers, “No, I’m a frayed knot!”
