In the coming months, we’re likely to hear a lot about crime and the need to be “tough” on it. But despite growing concern, research shows that crime statistics—particularly those for violent crime—have actually fallen significantly in the last several years. Nevertheless, public perception and political rhetoric often lead to budget dollars being funneled away from social programs and into law enforcement policies that can have a dramatic impact on marginalized communities, creating an atmosphere of fear, mistrust, and isolation that actually increases criminal activity. Emmaus House stands for justice and equity, rooted in faith and deep respect for the dignity of every human being. We’re not politicians or criminal justice experts, but we hope that as we consider these and other questions in the coming months, we do so in a spirit of compassion and service to our communities.

When people are charged with committing a crime, they receive some form of punishment and (ideally) some form of rehabilitation. However, punishment does not actually end once someone has served their time. Individuals with criminal legal system involvement often face barriers to employment, including policy, education, basic needs, health, social network, and discrimination barriers. We believe in the ideal of liberty and justice for all, and we also believe that should include our neighbors and family living with a criminal record. As you celebrate #4thofJuly, consider what it means for America to be deemed the "land of the free" when so many of our countrymen face continued injustices. Then learn more in our 2023 report #RollingBouldersUphill: https://bit.ly/3S4VcKP

FOUR 1. You can NOT sponsor and celebrate genocide and war killing and family separation and be "Pro-Life" 2. You simply can NOT "unalive" and cause irrepaiarable damage to fellow humans to force-assimilate people YOU CONsider INferior to yourself; and still be"Pro-Life." 3. CallINgYourself or your movement "ProLife" while promoting "UnalivINg humans you disapprove of" is a clear indicator of dangerous sociopathic cognitive dissonance. 4. If you do these things you ARE "Pro-COERSIVE CONtrol of other people's lives" NOT "Pro-Life." Lets be clear. There is a quantifiable difference.
This is about control & domination and nothing else, everywhere. That is the intent and design of it all. All of it. Please get us off of this insane timeline of hypocrisy and domination and replace it with collective liberation. Here's something from the archives that we said on June 25, 2022: "If you haven’t accepted that our beloved “home of the brave” is intentional about removing all agency from women and children it’s time to face it. There has been an active attack on the agency, basic human rights, and safety of women and children since the birth of our country. If you hear anyone say they are shocked by Friday’s ruling that overturned Roe vs. Wade, have them scroll through the last two years of our Instagram feed or read our Complaint to the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women about how women and children are stripped of their basic human rights every day in family courts across the United States, and throughout the globe." - Custody Peace via "This is all very intentional.
