We're Live Folks! I met Eric Duncan and Travis Richmond a yr ago and we all agreed something was missing from the NIL space. The top players were cashing in and the top companies were throwing money around. However, the average fan, small business or even mid size company doesn't have an avenue for providing financial support to student-athletes and their teams. At the same time, many student-athletes were not experiencing the same financial joys as some of their fellow teammates. Tip A Player (or TAP) meets the needs of every sports fan and believes players should be compensated for the use of their Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL). Anyone at anytime can use TAP's online platform to provide financial support to individual athletes and/or their teams. Here's my favorite part - 100% goes to the student-athletes and EVERYONE benefits when an individual student-athlete receives a tip. 90% goes to the player and 10% to the rest of the team. So, for the player you'll probably never hear about but contributes tremendously, or the walkon student-athlete who shows up daily for whatever the team needs despite having a job(s) to pay their way - they benefit too. Tip A Player is also a game changer for non-revenue generating sports. These student-athletes and teams are often overlooked when it comes to NIL opportunities but not anymore. Every Tip Is A Team Win!!

There’s a lot of speculation regarding Angel Reese’s GPA. As a sports agent, I want to clarify this for everyone. NIL stands for Name, Image & Likeness, and to give you a better idea of what that means, it essentially allows her to get paid for her social media influence OFF-COURT. It’s still ILLEGAL to pay athletes for ON-COURT activities unless they are professionals. Her GPA does not and will not affect her NIL deals. But a message to ALL athletes: Although your NIL deals won’t be affected, you still want to make sure you keep your GPA up so that you can graduate and participate in on-court activities. For everyone else, we’ve all made mistakes and failed at things. Don’t knock someone down whom you helped build up. As for parents and coaches, please get educated on NIL so that you are up to date with everything that’s going on.

NIL stands for Name, Image, and Likeness. It refers to the recent rule changes allowing college athletes to profit from their personal brand through endorsements, sponsorships, and other uses of their name, image, and likeness. It was finally accepted because: Outdated Model: The "amateur" ideal became increasingly irrelevant as college sports became a multi-billion dollar industry. Student athletes are essentially performers generating revenue, and the previous system denied them fair compensation.

These tools include, but are not limited to: 1️⃣Investments, asset classes, tax strategies, and risk profiles (this requires its own separate post). 2️⃣Corprate structures and how to incorporate themselves and their brand, while protecting their ideas through trademarks and other means. 3️⃣Public speaking training! This sounds trivial but as podcasts and public appearances increase, learning how to tactfully articulate yourself will be necessary to maintain or expand your brand. Student-athletes are the most at-risk as capitalism pierces into college sports.

Very exciting development out of Florida today. The Florida High School Athletic Association's (FHSAA) approval of NIL deals for high school athletes is set to transform the sports landscape in the state. Effective for the 2024-25 season, this policy allows students to profit from endorsements and other NIL opportunities without risking their athletic eligibility, reflecting a growing trend seen in over 30 states. As Florida enters the high school NIL era, allowing high school students to engage in NIL deals empowers young athletes to not only capitalize on their talents, but provide valuable financial and entrepreneurial opportunities. A letter to athletic leaders across the country (Part 2) THE PLAYERS NIL WORLD-CLASS TEACHING Let's dive into the real talk—the discomfort around NIL education might be more than it seems. Sure, the immediate challenge exists, but what about the hidden costs? When discussing not having comprehensive leadership in navigating the NIL landscape, it's not just a hiccup; it’s an iceberg with unseen consequences. 1. Loss of Recruits: When your program isn't seen as progressive in embracing NIL, it’s not just the star recruits you lose. It's the potential future leaders, the game-changers who want to be part of a program that understands the evolving landscape of collegiate sports. 2. Loss for Donors: It's not just about the athletes making bank; it's about your program making bank through alumni donations. Your donor pool could see a significant downturn if athletes aren't empowered to build their brand and become successful alumni. 3. Loss of Empowering Athletes to be Good Citizens: Beyond the sports field, athletes are ambassadors of your institution. If they are empowered with NIL education, their potential to positively impact society will remain high. It’s a loss for them and the community they could influence. 4. Without Comprehensive Leadership, the Locker Room May Become Divided: NIL education isn’t just about dollars; it's about unity. Without a comprehensive approach, the locker room, the heart of your team, might become divided. Unity is a cornerstone of success in any sports program. The cost is much more than financial; it’s about the very fabric of your program's success and reputation. Embracing NIL education isn’t just about ticking off a box; it's an investment in your athletic program's sustainable growth and legacy.
