I'm excited to see that my two newest RANGER customers starting to use their systems! So far, we have over 3400 real-world AGE dispatches with RANGER. Never once has anyone contacted me to tell me they have a problem with the system. It does what I claim it can do, and that solves a lot of problems for your AGE folks. Everyone who works on RANGER has experience in maintenance and as a SNCO. As a result, we have a general idea of what works and what doesn't. So, we can make products that help SNCO's do SNCO stuff that is necessary in maintenance. We come up with stuff that they would never imagine a system like this could do and are blown away at how easy it makes a lot of their tasks. We also build relationships with people within the AGE community, from the Commanders down to the Dispatchers on the line. We are mindful that they know what they need more than we do. If they see something can be better, we listen to them and make the changes. In most cases, we will see an opportunity for improvement and make it at no cost to the unit. In some countries a helicopter is used to install power lines in #TransmissionLine towers. Since the #HighVoltage conductors are heavy, first they fly a lighter guide wire through pulleys on the towers. After this, the wire is used to pull the heavier power lines into place. The fatal crash of Hughes 369 helicopter being used to trim trees has a backstory that gives insight into what went wrong. This workhorse of a helicopter apparently had damage from previous incidents. The NTSB investigation found cracks in an engine mount that were likely present before the crash. John Goglia and Todd Curtis look beyond the fatal accident and share three previous investigations involving this helicopter. Two involved a crash with serious structural damage or a hard landing. These events may have stressed the engine mounts. The fatal crash happened when the helicopter was in use for an operation that used a large 10-bladed saw to trim trees close to power lines. The helicopter went into a spin and low altitude and crashed, killing the pilot. This episode highlights the importance of knowing an aircraft's history. Studying previous events involving a particular aircraft could reveal issues that should be inspected more closely or more frequently. The required 100-hour and 300-hour inspections were completed for the helicopter at the center of this discussion.
