The WFCA has an impressive education program not just for fire industry professionals but for federal, state, local and public at large. I appreciate the “ wildfire Wednesday” updates. My interest as a natural resource owner, rural community and urban community resident is to be educated to influence a proactive result before our communities are impacted by wild fires and my investment is lost. What I witnessed first hand is the lack of willingness to invest the time and money to create and implement viable resiliency plans because most local government funded programs get more money to recover from the disaster then they can round up to minimize the devastating impacts of wild fire occurrences beforehand. There is the mindset; “it will not happen to us”. There is also the ecological lobby that really encourages the devastation through obstruction of proactive planning due to Endagered Species Act- ESA listings which inhibits vegetation resource management in wildfire prone areas. Thank you WFCA for being a proactive catalyst in helping our communities thrive with knowledge and support. I encourage those reading this post to be part of the solution and join the WFCA online education link and pass this info on to your city, county, state, federal administrators and friends to encourage resiliency of wildfire impacts to everyday life. With or without climate change the impacts are obvious. Enjoy the reading.
