I've learned a lot about the impact of non-cash giving over the past six months. The PDF below presents some of the most compelling research I've encountered on the differences between non-cash and cash gifts. Professor Russell James III, J.D., Ph.D., CFP, who serves as the Director of Graduate Studies in Charitable Financial Planning at Texas Tech University, conducted research analyzing over 1 million nonprofit tax returns. His findings revealed that organizations consistently receiving non-cash gifts, such as stocks, experienced a 66% increase in total contributions over 5 years, while those receiving only cash saw an 11% growth. Nonprofits that receive non-cash gifts can provide donors with significant tax benefits, resulting in 6 times faster long-term fundraising growth compared to organizations that only accept cash.

Tax season: The April 15th Deadline Is Approaching. If you file taxes in AZ, you can receive a dollar-for-dollar Tax Credit on your Arizona taxes (up to $421 for individuals / $841 for couples filing joint return) for your donation to Helping Hands for Single Moms. We assist low-income single mom families while mom attains her degree, and career opportunities with which to support her family and give back to our community. Our Scholarship-Plus is more than financial assistance, it's additional wrap-around services to relieve the family burdens while she works hard to complete her education. Hundreds of women who received our scholarship have proven to themselves, and their children, the impact of hard work and self-sufficiency. Side note: For those interested in planning a legacy gift, the Helping Hands for Single Moms Commencement Society is a strategic move to accomplish your financial and charitable objectives. This might include preserving a family name, honoring a loved one, minimizing tax obligations and supporting a beloved community. By submitting a statement of intent and notifying Helping Hands for Single Moms of a planned gift, you will begin to receive benefits of being a Commencement Society Member. Doing this, you will make your legacy their legacy by providing college education scholarships to single moms. https://lnkd.in/guPXwD4r

Serving the charitable needs of donors, potential donors, nonprofits, CPAs, wealth advisors, and trusts & estates attorneys
Prepare for Taxmageddon! So says Sara Barba (colleague to our most recent guest Sandra Swirski), who is an expert federal policy consultant and lobbyist for charities, as well as a principal at Integer, LLC---and the latest guest on the Money to Give podcast series. The expiring tax cuts of 2025 are getting people anxious! There is a lack of education and understanding that members of Congress and their staff have about what the philanthropic sector really does. Worse, threats to the sector are NUMEROUS and a bit unknown until election day on November 5, 2024. And, U.S. legislators may be looking to nonprofits as a source of revenue! Yikes! What is to happen? How will things look a little different from the 2017 “pro-growth” mindset of legislators seven years ago? What can we collectively do about that? The podcast is found on Apple: https://lnkd.in/eNsshtJb Or Spotify: https://lnkd.in/edUDy4Fj Or Amazon Music: https://lnkd.in/edPREw5F You can also e-mail Sara at [email protected] or visit the philanthropy portion of her website at https://lnkd.in/gikHN3zA

Why am I raising money to donate books? Imagine a world where your zip code determines your access to stories, knowledge, and dreams. A staggering 82% of CPS elementary schools lack a functioning library, a basic necessity we often take for granted. The disparity grows as we learn that libraries exist in only 10% of primarily Black schools and 21% in Latinx schools. Now, picture a child's home. In 61% of low-income families, not a single age-appropriate book graces their shelves. Yet, studies show that children growing up in homes with at least twenty books gain an additional three years of schooling compared to their peers from bookless environments. Books are more than just paper and ink. They are windows to new worlds, bridges to immense possibilities, and the keys to unlocking untapped potential. Join me in turning the page on educational inequality. Your donation to Working in the Schools (WITS) can light up countless lives, one book at a time.
