𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬- 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐌/ 𝐖𝐌 𝐑𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐬? Citigroup is nearing the divestment of its trust business, a move reported by financial magazine Barron’s. Currently, #citi offers trust services to ultra-wealthy clients for managing their estate needs. A buyer has been identified, though undisclosed, with one firm bidding $70 million unsuccessfully. Citi will keep the investment management segment while the buyer will take over trust administration. Key points to note about the deal: ➡ Divestment Part of Strategy: This is part of a broader strategy led by CEO Jane Fraser to streamline operations post-2008 financial crisis. ➡ Previous Sales: Citi previously sold its Smith Barney wealth business to #morganstanley and part of its trust business to Reliance Financial. ➡ Focus on Core Assets: The divestment aligns with Citi's aim to focus on core assets and improve profitability. Implications for #wealthmanagement and #assetmanagement aspirants: ✅ Job Opportunities: The shift may affect the availability of roles in non-core areas, implying fewer opportunities in the trust division. ✅ Focus on Core Areas: Students should target roles in Citi’s retained core areas, such as #investmentmanagement ✅ Industry Trends: Understanding of such strategic changes is crucial for students to align career aspirations with industry movements. By realigning its business, Citigroup aims to enhance profitability and focus, impacting job availability in specific sectors. While the immediate impact on #summerinternship roles may not be much, such market news is important for #investmentbanking #assetmanagement #privatebank #wealthmanagement interviews since you would be expected to be familiar with latest macroeconomic as well as related banking news. How did I prepare for my Barclays interview? Usually, there are 2 categories of questions asked. All of them needs to be prepared differently. 1. General questions Apart from questions like introduce yourself and why industrial training, one must be thorough with their CV and especially their articleship experience. Questions regarding your previous work experience are quite common. I was thoroughly asked about all the clients I have worked upon and my learnings from them. (Dont lie in the CV about your articleship experience, interviewers can catch you) 2. Technical questions Questions from Accounting Standards, Standard on Auditing, financial management and tax provisions are asked. The mix and ratio of these depend upon the profile. Most common questions are from: AS on - Revenues, lease and impairment Audit - Risk Control Matrix, materiality, types of controls and risks Since, I appeared in the interview for a SoX related profile, I was asked everything around it. For this, I personally went through marathons available on YouTube regarding the subject matter. You must know about the company beforehand like what do they do, a brief history and any relevant recent news. Additionally, going through the job description (if available) is also advisable. PS - Attaching a photo of my first day at Barclays for the algorithm. #industrialtraining #icai #articleship

📌Technical PE Interview Questions Accounting, equity value and enterprise value, valuation/DCF, merger models, and LBO models – all subjects covered in investment banking interviews too. That’s great news if you’re in banking – you should be able to recite these topics in your sleep! If you’re not in banking – we recommend learning now, as without these, no job offer is possible. So, how do these questions differ from IB interviews? 🔹Technical questions are typically linked to your deal experience. For instance, instead of a generic question about the WACC formula, they might inquire about its calculation in a specific deal. 🔹A higher level of critical thinking will be needed. Instead of walking through financial statements when Depreciation changes, they might present scenarios with different business models and ask about the resulting financial statements and valuation variances. 🔹Emphasis is placed on LBO models, rapid IRR calculations, and your ability to assess deals efficiently. ⚠️ Most importantly, remember that having this technical knowledge does not guarantee you a job offer. But not knowing this – guarantees no offers at all. #CainMann #PEInterview #Interviewtips #Investmentbanks #Technicalquestions
