This is fantastic news! Hopefully, more companies will follow! Our friends at Paid Leave for All are starting a social campaign on Wednesday, July 10th called #nopaidleavecostme. They are focused on a federal paid leave program. They are hopeful this will be an important, loud moment to make it clear to elected officials that there are costs to not having common-sense policies like paid leave and care, and we are paying it. Their last digital action reached millions on social media and a press audience of 400 million in its first day. We survey mothers across the U.S. and all political affiliations. Our February study on the House Bipartisan Working Group's new paid leave framework found that 80% of mothers believe that the U.S. should have a national program that guarantees coverage to all working people to care for a new child, a loved one, or themselves without putting the full costs on businesses. Nike's action is critical for their employees and hopefully will start a bigger trend!
