Canada's immigration policies have been a hot topic lately, and I found myself reading up on it through Business in Vancouver's (BIV) article on the impact it will have on schools and universities across the country. While I'm not one to get political, the idea of decreasing international student enrollment to ease the housing crisis seems counterproductive. Reducing the number of international students would only create more problems; reducing innovation brought by international perspectives, make it harder for universities to manage budgets and potentially destroy jobs, and taking away millions of dollars from our economy. ...or perhaps I am incorrectly reading too much into this and have it all wrong. Exemptions and Hope🤞 : 🌲 Study permit renewals are not included in the cap. 🌲 Current permit holders' legal status remains unaffected. 🌲 Those pursuing master’s, doctoral degrees, elementary, and secondary education are exempt. 🌲 Graduates of master’s programs will soon be eligible for a 3-year work permit.
