Commercialization of ideas from concept to profitability ⁞ P&L ⁞ M&A ⁞ Partnerships ⁞ Innovation ⁞ Intrapreneur ⁞
OPSEU has said "the expansion (of pre-mixed cocktails sold in grocery/convenience) threatens the LCBO's future as a retailer and could lead to thousands of job losses within a few years" I think the strike could lead to thousands of job losses sooner than the next few years... I'd imagine there would be a way for the province to maintain the net dividend it receives from the LCBO without running a large retail chain. Other provinces have privatized alcohol. Are they generating equal/greater contributions per capita or per quantity of alcohol sold? https://lnkd.in/evS45k8R

We need to bring common sense back to our industry. Instead of infighting to protect one sales channel we should be working together to grow the industry and customer base. While this nonsense continues, new and innovative competing products are coming to market and they are reducing our overall customer base. It is time for a change and a collaborative environment amongst all channels is needed to do that. #dtc #selfdistribution #wineindustry #beerindustry #spiritsindustry #distilledspirits #timetochange #speakthetruth #collaboration #growthemarket #wine #beer #spirits Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau U.S. Department of the Treasury CNN FoxNews24X7.com

Raising a Glass to Record Sales with Shrinking Pockets Can you believe it? Our local liquor stores had their 27th straight year of bigger sales. That's like, if every year your piggy bank got fatter, but somehow your candy stash got smaller. The stores sold more, but the money they kept after paying bills? Not so much. It's like throwing a huge party but forgetting you have to clean up and pay the pizza guy. One article said, "increased operating costs drove down net profits," which basically means it cost them more to keep the lights on and the shelves stacked. For me, the real fizz in the soda pop isn't just selling a lot, it's making sure you're not spending all your quarters to do it. At Supergay Spirits, we get that. We celebrate every win, but know that the real victory is doing good while doing well. We believe in smart business, where our growth also helps our community shine. Distil (AIM:DIS) PLC sales volumes plunged 47% and profits 19% in the past quarter as it said consumers faced continued spending pressures. The owner of RedLeg, Blackwoods, TRØVE and Blavod rum, gin and vodka brands said the final quarter of its financial year to 31 March is historically its quietest trading period, particularly in the UK. “Sales came in below the previous year as major customers changed ordering patterns, particularly in relation to online sales,” the AIM-listed company said, with higher sales for some customers that resulted in them holding higher than usual stock levels. Executive chairman Don Goulding said: "The company has faced a tough quarter of trading as the wider market continues to operate within challenging conditions, however the full year results remain positive, showing double-digit growth on the previous year.” One key customer reduced distribution, which Distil said was... Scotch Whisky Evangelist | Commercial Lending | Socially Responsible Property | Connector | Storyteller
On the back of our March Report, I want to touch on cask pricing. When you are looking to buy a cask, it is important that you consider not only its relative value compared to other options you may be presented with, but also how the value of the cask will influence your exit. One of the most commonly mentioned exits for a personal cask is selling to an independent bottler. Keep in mind, a bottler is running a business. If a bottler cannot bottle your cask for a price that makes commercial sense, they won't buy it. This is the main risk associated with buying casks which are more expensive per litre. Assuming a brand's value continues to push up the prices of their whisky is speculation and you should be aware that that is what you are doing in those cases. When you buy your cask, have a preferred exit in mind and determine whether or not your desired return is realistic from the eventual buyer's perspective. Working this out is something a good broker can walk you through. If you are being rushed into buying, or pigeonholed into buying a certain cask without any consideration of your personal circumstances, please be wary.

Build a solid foundation from day 1! The biggest hurdle faced by liquor retailers is liquor license application approval. If only it were as easy as submitting or mailing one form. Unfortunately, that's not the case. Liquor license approval depends on correctly fulfilling all requirements and understanding what the government looks for before giving an application the green light.

Today is the day of the Sunday Alcohol Sales hearing and we need your help in South Carolina to change our laws. Banning liquor stores from deciding if they want to open on Sundays is based on outdated and antiquated laws from the prohibition era – laws that don’t reflect the lives of 21st century citizens. Help us to urge SC government to let voters decide for ourselves what is best for our counties. State law already allows voters in individual counties to vote on Sunday sales of beer and wine, and both businesses and consumers value the option. It’s only fair to extend a similar option for businesses and consumers to make our own decisions about the sale of liquor. Not only is this reasonable, but it’s overwhelmingly supported by citizens and businesses across the state. 77% of South Carolinians say voters should be able to decide if liquor stores can open on Sundays in their county. Businesses and consumers across South Carolina deserve freedom and fairness to make these decisions for ourselves. Please support this bill and click on the link to share this message with our lawmakers.Send an email in just a few clicks to your legislator NOW. The form is already created for us. Let's make the effort to get our voices heard! Click the link or write directly. https://p2a.co/hcn2wdj
