If you are applying for a new National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) #IPERT grant in which you are innovating on things you did in a prior grant, is it advisable to point out what you failed at doing in the first grant as long as you outline why you failed and use that as rationale for doing it differently in the new grant?

We are thrilled that it was at EBMA 🎓 that our mathematical model was presented for the first time. We are very grateful to the scientific committee of the European Board of Medical Assessors for including our report "Scoring System based on the Stratification of Medical Errors for Medical Simulation" in the scientific program of the Annual European Conference on Assessment in Medical Education 2024. During the presentation, we had the opportunity to share our strategy for developing a mathematical model based on the stratification of the severity of medical errors, the specular reflection strategy for correctly made decisions in clinical decision-making in a simulation scenario, the possibility of combining a mathematical model with OSCE simulation, as well as with the conclusions of the first observations. #MedicalEducation #Clinicalsimulation #AssessmentInMedEd #EuropeanBoardOfMedicalAssessors #EBMA #EBMA2024 #EBMAconference #ClinCaseQuest #AssessmentInMedicalSimulation

🤷♂️ What is patient and public Involvement (PPI) in clinical research? PPI in clinical research means people helping contribute to shaping goals, designing studies, and evaluating research projects by sharing their attitudes, perspectives, and opinions about clinical research. 💡 With PPI, patients and members of the public are actively involved in clinical research since they are affected by or fund the research. 🌟DCR finds great value in PPI in clinical research. A testament to the significance of PPI is exemplified by the words of Kurt Meyer, a valued DCR PPI contributor: 🎤 "First of all, it’s my experience as a patient which is about 45 years. Secondly, I am a simulation patient at the Institute for Medical Education. [...] I feel like that might help me to understand certain things better and to contribute." It was fantastic to be in Brussels yesterday for the Federation of European Academies of Medicine (FEAM) and The Academy of Medical Sciences workshop on the Design of EU Framework Programme 10. The current research funding programme is supported by nearly 90 billion Euros, so it's really important that medical academies across Europe influence what goes into the next programme which will run from 2027 to 2035. #horizoneurope #medicalresearch #scientificresearch
