It is estimated that 415 million people worldwide are living with diabetes, which is estimated to be 1 in 11 of the world's adult population. 46% of people with diabetes are undiagnosed. The figure is expected to rise to 642 million people living with diabetes worldwide by 2040. Diabetes can lead to poor circulation and nerve damage, increasing the risk of foot ulcers. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is known for its ability to enhance the healing process of wounds, particularly in persistent wounds like diabetic foot ulcers. The heightened levels of oxygen aid in tissue regeneration and boost the body's defence against infections. It’s #DiabetesAwarenessWeek! In the UK, diabetes affects more people than any other serious health condition. There are 4.6 million people with Type 1 diabetes and an estimated 12.3 million at risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.* This year, the focus of Diabetes Awareness Week is to highlight the importance of people with diabetes getting their annual health checks done. One critical aspect of managing diabetes is regular eye exams. Did you know that diabetes can lead to serious eye conditions like diabetic retinopathy, cataracts, and glaucoma? Regular eye exams can catch early signs of diabetic eye disease, allowing for timely treatment. Don’t wait until you notice vision changes. Book your eye exam today and encourage others to do the same! #DiabetesAwarenessWeek #EyeHealth #GetTested #DiabeticEyeCare #VisionCare *Diabetes UK

*Type-2 Diabetes Irreversible:* Though scientifically, diabetes is irreversible, sustained weight loss and sustained changes in lifestyle can, however, result in remission, decrease in the severity of the disease and prevent complications. The definition of remission is focused on normal blood glucose levels and no requirement for medication. There always is a chance of a relapse after remission. Reversal is not a permanent state or cure. We only manage to bring sugar level down to lower than threshold level. If we don’t follow the regime as a permanent lifelong lifestyle measure, we are likely to suffer again. The greatest chance of remission occurs in obese patients with a shorter duration of diabetes.
