We've got some new state park managers on our team at Colorado Parks and Wildlife so let's take a moment to meet one, Matt Schuler! Matt has been working for Colorado Parks and Wildlife since 2007 and has been the park manager at Jackson Lake State Park since fall 2023. Matt says, "I love the wide open spaces buzzing with wildlife at Jackson Lake. Northeast Colorado has been the most welcoming community I've called home and I'm excited to be a part of it." Keep up the great work, Matt!

Breaking: McCormick Place Just Got a Whole Lot Safer for Birds! At Feather Friendly, protecting birds isn’t just what we do—it’s who we are. It’s in our DNA. When McCormick Place needed a scientifically tested solution after last year’s mass collision, they trusted us to deliver. And we did. The result? Nearly 120,000 sq ft of glass at McCormick Place — that’s about two football fields—has been treated with Feather Friendly Large-scale Pro markers by our authorized dealer/applicator NGS—in time for the ongoing fall migration. This massive initiative would not have been possible without a call for change from the brilliant minds at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), the Field Museum, and local advocacy groups such as Chicago Bird Collision Monitors. According to a news report from Fox 32 Chicago that you can see here https://lnkd.in/g-QKZxEm, a massive reduction in collisions is already being seen, and we are excited to see the results of comprehensive monitoring! McCormick Place is now setting the standard in environmental stewardship—who’s next in joining this movement to make our cities safer for birds? #birdconservation #featherfriendly #birdsafe #wildlifeconservation #nature #urbanspaces #mccormickplace MPEA
Thank you MPEA for championing McCormick Place in this massive undertaking - treating two football fields' worth of windows with bird-safe window film at our Lakeside Center building! Brian Smith of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS)'s Midwest Region offered the following quote: "MPEA leadership was open to suggestions, and they were transparent with us as they implemented swift and significant changes to their lighting and existing windows to reduce risk to birds in future migratory seasons. We hope their actions inspire others along the lakeshore, in Chicago, and throughout the entire flyway to take steps to reduce bird collisions at their facilities." "We all love Farlington Marshes, but what do you love about the area? Walking? Bird spotting? Watching the sunrise? The area has some sea defences that need to be repaired. But first, Environment Agency want to understand what people value most about the wildlife reserve, how often people visit, and what you think makes it such a positive asset to the city. So if you've got a few minutes, complete this short survey and give your opinion. https://lnkd.in/ejAciXX5 "

Such great landscape scale, when established, vitally needed NFM, ecosystems engineers, nature based solutions, flood, drought, climate breakdown mitigation - soil and stored carbon protection. Now enable, afford, create, a 'National Freshwater Forest' - Wales Far better enable Beavers to deliver their natural, public services on a landscape scale, within the SFS with blended public, private financing - accountable biodiversity and carbon offsetting - and redistributive wealth taxes. Invest in freshwater quality, and far better climate breakdown deluge, by intercepting and appropriately lining, where ever freshwater flows with native trees. They can have multiple purposes, for farms, foods and product diversification, that will in a big part enable far stronger, climate resilient community economies. Site appropriate, short rotation coppice trees, as mulch, as a livestock feed and browse supplement, as biomass feed stock, biochar, freshwater management, as rapid carbon drawdown - need to be, strongly in this freshwater forest mix. Wales, be that exemplar of how inclusive communities & indigenous culture, can far better thrive in very precarious time, with very targeted additional tree cover, that compliments, and supports the growth of a newly developing Beaver population 💚 Never forget your working marginal, problematic land - this is not trees or food, or offsetting, it's multipurpose. #agroforestry #freshwater #agriculture #food #climateaction #wellbeingeconomy Abi Reader Dr Eurgain Powell Petranka Malcheva Rhiannon-Jane Raftery FRSA ,MIPM Ian Titherington David Ashford Pete Frost Llywodraeth Cymru Economi | Welsh Government Economy Lee Waters MS - do this now and you'll save The Office of the Future Generations Commissioner for Wales Future Generations so much, relatively fast, by tackling drought and flood naturally now.
Exciting news for beavers in Wales 👏🎉🦫 Behind the scenes there will have been a lot of hard work by Cyfoeth Naturiol Cymru / Natural Resources Wales, Wildlife Trusts Wales and others 🤝 https://lnkd.in/eteGGMdi

Owner & Founder | Real estate developer offering investors low-risk, high-return opportunities in real estate projects we own and control from start to finish
Always be improving ⬅️ While visiting Kings Trail in England a while back, my wife and I came upon this gate. Part of this trail involves walking through pasturelands that are actively being used and this gate is a way to keep animals from escaping while allowing people to use the trails. At my own farm, one of my least favorite things is constantly having to traverse our own gates. Needless to say, I was certain to take a picture and measurements. We might be seeing some of these on my farm very soon! 😉 #ContinuousImprovement #GrowthMindset #Efficiency

Do you help people to access parks, beaches, lakes, rivers, canals, woodlands, or nature reserves? Are you a staff member or a volunteer in one of these wonderful places? Or perhaps you are a landowner? On behalf of The Wildlife Trusts, Iain Broome and I are producing some resources to help more people access and enjoy blue and green spaces. We’re running two identical online workshops in August and would love you to join one to help us shape this work. There is already lots of research about barriers and enablers that affect access to green and blue spaces. To add to this, we’ll be asking you: 1. Do you have insights about specific groups of people within your local population who do or don’t use the spaces near you? 2. What guidance is already available about improving access? 3. What more can be done to help people access blue and green space? 4. Who else should we be talking to as we collate our research? Join us on: 7th August 10 – 11.00am or 15th August 12pm – 1.00pm Register for The Wildlife Trusts workshop here: https://lnkd.in/eusjdfDN You can contact me directly with a PM Could you help us reach more people by sharing and tagging this post? Many thanks!

Returning apex predators gives hope for blooming #biodiversity! 💚 The return of healthy populations of keystone species, like these Gray wolves, has huge implications for the entire ecosystem - and everyone in it. From the wriggly things in the soil, to prey such as deer, these wild wolves will support ecosystem resilience. 🐛 🐜 🦌 🐺 It is now becoming clear that some trophic cascades could also have a significant impact on the carbon cycle and climate change. Wolves are one of the 9 'climate hero' species of the peer-reviewed study in Nature Climate Change. We 💚 #rewilding
Amazing news: Gray wolves in California have added a whopping 30 new pups this spring, according to recent counts by the CA Department of Fish and Wildlife. This remarkable news comes a mere 13 years after OR-7 made his historic journey across state lines to become the first known wolf in California in nearly a century — with several of his offspring helping establish new packs in the state. Now, the the total known population in the state is up to 62 wolves including adults, yearlings and the newly added pups. “Seeing wolves return to the places this magnificent species once called home and have these adorable new pups is as inspiring as it gets,” said the Center's Amaroq Weiss. Preserving our expansive beautiful land is what makes our state great. It’s a fine balance of development and ecological control and preservation that will enable true prosperity for all.
✨One of Texas' most beloved state parks is expanding – Enchanted Rock State Natural Area will soon grow by 630 acres! Did you know that The Nature Conservancy in Texas safeguarded this gem back in the '70s before transferring it to our partners at Texas Parks and Wildlife Department? We’re excited to witness the continued growth and preservation of this natural wonder. Hear from TNC Texas Director of Land Protection Jeff Francell in this KUT & KUTX Public Media article by Maya Fawaz about the expansion: https://nature.ly/3zzUQpc 📸: Kenny Braun

When most people think about deer management in Scotland, chances are that it is the majestic red deer stag on a Highland mountainside that springs most readily to mind. In many areas, however, it is Scotland’s other native deer species – roe deer - that poses an equally large challenge, particularly in our lowland and urban areas. In today’s Herald, our Head of Wildlife Management Donald Fraser takes a look at the issues roe deer can pose in lowland and urban areas and what is being done by NatureScot and partners to address these challenges: https://lnkd.in/e-msTEqH You can also find out more about how and why roe deer are managed in the lowlands in this short video featuring case studies in three very different natural habitats - Scotland’s rainforest on the west coast, woodland on the outskirts of Glasgow and farmland in Fife: https://lnkd.in/e_X_wV7K
