The CMI is looking for volunteers to join the Executive Committee. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals with an interest in the CMI’s work on mortality and morbidity, and how this provides value to a wide base of subscribers. The role allows for opportunity to oversee to the work of the CMI and its investigation committees whilst also to ensuring the strategic direction of the CMI remains appropriate. Institutional Review Boards (#IRBs): IRBs are groups that check research plans involving people to make sure they're safe and fair. They: 1. Look at research ideas before studies start 2. Make sure participants are protected 3. Check that risks are low and benefits are worth it 4. Ensure people are told everything about the study 5. Can say yes, no, or ask for changes to research plans 6. Keep watching studies after they start 7.
