Groundbreaking Game Changers-funded radar technology was recently showcased by Dublin-based company PRAM (Predictive Resilient Asset Monitoring), proving the efficacy of a promising solution to the challenges of condition monitoring at Sellafield Ltd. The demonstration was part of a proof of concept study focused on the long-term monitoring of air ducts, a critical component of Sellafield's infrastructure. Organised by FIS360 Project Manager Kirstie Ryan, the demo highlighted the capabilities of PRAM's 3D-mm radar system in detecting corrosion and changes within ductwork systems. Facilitated through the Game Changers open innovation programme, PRAM has been able to work with Sellafield as the end user to understand an issue and develop the solution they needed. Manchester based 'Sports City Management Company' has received funding from UK Space Agency to use space derived data to enhance visitor travel to the Etihad Campus, the home of Manchester City Football Club’s Etihad Stadium and the new Co-op Live Arena, by reducing congestion and increasing the sustainability of fan travel. The project will support the development of an AI-enabled travel demand solution, using satellite data from the European Space Agency - ESA’s Copernicus Open Access Hub and Sentinel satellites, to predict patterns in the travel of music and sports fans at major events. Coupled with machine learning, this provides transport operators and event planners with insight into congestion points, public transport requirements and crowd flow.
