"Parmigiano Reggiano preserve the uniqueness of the Emilian Apennines" "It is the most important PDO product obtained in the mountains, with more than 21% of total production concentrated in 83 dairies out of 292 members. The difference of the PDO compared to many other economic realities is that the activity cannot be delocalized, and therefore the turnover automatically becomes "income" for the area of origin. If we add to this that in 2021 one foreign tourist out of two visited our country because of the food and wine, the importance of PDO for the development of experiential tourism in these places is clear. For the Consortium, it is the territory and the community that inhabits it the most valuable asset because they represent a model of environmental, economic and social sustainability" - Nicola Bertinelli, presidente del Consorzio Studio F+B Advisors means Glory Food #fbadvisors #parmigianoreggiano #madeinitaly #export

Did you know that the small, prickly cucumber known as 'comcomber chikito' in Aruba has deep roots in the island’s history? While over 60% of Arubans mistakenly believe it was brought from South America by Indians, fewer than 30% know its true origin—carried across the Atlantic by enslaved Africans. Our latest research, part of a ZonMw collaboration between the Universities of Aruba, Curaçao, and Sint Maarten, investigates the comcomber chikito's role in Aruba's food security. Despite its cultural significance, this cucumber has yet to secure a prominent place in modern diets. Through participatory action research, consumer surveys, and expert interviews, we uncover barriers in the value chain, including challenges in innovation, technology adoption, and entrepreneurial capacity. We hope this study not only illuminates the challenges facing food systems in Small Island States but also elevates the comcomber chikito to its rightful place in our culinary heritage. #ZonMw #UniversityofAruba #FoodSecurity link to article -> https://lnkd.in/eMsJQ7-B

Thank you American - Hellenic Chamber of Commerce and Alexandra Loli for featuring our perspectives on the potential of Greek agrifood exports to the US. "Being a major pillar for Greece’s economy and the second largest employer, the Agrifood sector actively contributes to the country’s international trade, boasting Greece’s most dynamic export products, among which vegetables, oils, processed fruits, dairy. The US has developed into an attractive market, especially for Greek specialty foods, a good example being quality Greek wines. Agrifood companies have been steadily increasing their export performance, building long-term relations with US buyers and investing in high-quality, branded products. To further develop their potential, Greek businesses need to maintain or even increase production capacity and quality, responding to challenges such as climate-related fluctuations in raw materials; need for manual workers; lack of specialized technical personnel. Moreover, businesses need to invest in sustainable practices and technology, aligning with global efforts in mitigating climate crisis, international regulations and consumer trends. Most importantly, Greek agrifood companies need to create synergies to overcome their “small-size” disadvantage. Cooperative schemes may also play a crucial role in developing competitive edge, thus, the incorporation of a new exporting company by the National Association of Agricultural Cooperatives is seen as a positive development. It is obvious that Greek agrifood exports start in Greece, by offering an authentic, high-quality food experience to the millions of visitors. However, developing sustainable partnerships between local food producers and tourism businesses still remains challenging. Acknowledging the importance of exports to the sustainability of the sector, New Agriculture New Generation has been investing in building capacity within small agrifood businesses, through its flagship “Agrifood Exports 360o” program. This specialized program, bearing AmCham’s support, aims at business owners and exports professionals and familiarizes participants with the conditions and requirements of international markets, especially the US."
