Thank you Nilsa Cruz, CRHC for posting this on X. This a reminder that a "good" consultant uncovers the tricks that PBMs (in this case OptumRx) play on employers. We are trying to help employers avoid these tricks with info on the expensive and less expensive meds that we as rheumatologists use in the autoimmune inflammatory space. We expose shenanigans, like choosing a Higher priced drug whenlower-priced drugs are available and the ever popular (with PBms) "white bagging". We can show the tremendous savings by allowing private practice Docs who infuse in their office to "buy and bill", as opposed to the much higher charge for many of the white-bagged drugs through the PBM-owned specialty pharmacy or the high cost of infusing in the hospital.
