🌟Meet the Executive Directors of Conservation Legacy 🌟 First up, Geoff Elliot of Stewards Individual Placements - West! Fun Fact about Geoff: Geoff has two adorable dogs, Henry and Bodie, who are quite the local celebrities! 🐾 Henry is a blue heeler and Bodie is a red heeler, and they often get mistaken for Bluey and Bingo from the popular kids' show. It wasn’t until a family friend introduced them to the show that they realized why kids and families were so excited to see them on walks. 🐶😂 Geoff's Favorite Snack: "I love food but am not much of a snacker. For me, it always comes down to leftovers. I will avoid throwing away leftover food at all costs, so I am always turning to the fridge to pull together a snack from whatever remains of a recent dinner." Thanks Geoff for leading the STW team! You rock! Stay tuned as we continue to highlight our incredible Executive Directors across the country. 💪 Stewards Individual Placements

Last week we were at Domestic Animal Services in Canberra for the day - the first of a regular engagement. The teams here work hard and are exposed to some pretty difficult material and experiences. We were onsite to provide easy access to one on one support for employees. Between sessions we completed some team profiles, talking to each team and asking them - what the team does, the main challenges they face and what they would like other teams to know. The idea of a team profiling exercise is to breakdown silos and build empathy across teams to aid in collaboration. This is a great proactive initiative of the ACT Government, TCCS - facilitating easy access to trusted support for their employees who deal with challenging material on a day to day basis. This is how we like to work with organisations - flexibly to fit in with their environment; closely so we become a trusted provider with the ability to take a birds eye view on organisational culture, providing interventions and advice when needed and with regular proactive contact so we build trust and help to reduce the risk of psychological injuries going unmanaged, all while reducing the stigma and barriers to accessing support. Please get in touch if you would like to discuss a tailored support package to assist your people to be the best they can be. PS - as is often the case, we forgot to take photos but we can't talk about Domestic Animal Services without also including photos of dogs so here are Kate's 😍

At a recent Marmalade planning group meeting, Keith from Citizens UK brought up the story of the stone soup. Heard of it? It was new to me too, so here it is from Keith... "There was a story I was told when I was little that, at the time was just another story, but after 14 years of austerity, the increased cost of living, and pressures on civic organisations just to survive, the story has taken on new meaning. It’s called, “Stone Soup”, do you know it? A fox arrives at a farm and asks for food, going to each animal in turn but they all say “NO,” as they have only enough for themselves and not enough to share. Eventually he asks if he can have some water for his pot, and starts to search the ground for the perfect stone to put in it. Curious, the other animals discover he is making something called “Stone Soup”! They gather to learn more. The fox declares it almost perfect, “It just needs a little onion,” he says. “I have some!” says the hen and rushes off. You can perhaps guess the rest... Slowly but surely, the fox encourages each animal to add an ingredient to the soup made only from water and a single stone. And when they all try it, it’s the best soup they have ever tasted! At Marmalade we talk a lot about “Sharing Power”. When under pressure we are all tempted to see our power as a scarce resource. But at Citizens UK we say that power is simply “the ability to act” and that when shared, is in endless supply." #SharingPower #SocialImpact

Dogs are Teachers of Humanity 🤯 🤔 Can dogs really teach us more about Humanity? Let's find out. 🐕🦺 Dog lovers or general animal lovers are the best kind of people I have seen till now. Such people never compartmentalise their love as per race, caste and gender in the way we humans do. Dog lovers shower their unconditional love to a golden retriever in the same way, they do to a stray. Dogs are the animals who ponder cuteness in every way of their existence. 🫂 Class is a system that has always divided humans into taxonomy of worthy and unworthy individuals. In a similar context, this unfavourable concept has overridden many people's perspectives towards the dog kingdom as well. Nevertheless, a real dog lover isn't bothered with what others think of them. How can they think rationally if they don't mind being licked by dogs all over their face? ⚖️😷 If we have to compare international breeds with the ones we have in India; consider adopting a stray rather than purchasing a breed one. The reason behind this suggestion is that 'stray dogs are gifted for the indian tropical weather and they are by birth watchdogs, hyperactive, playful, loyal and their immune systems are very strong'. Stray dogs in particular will demand very few vet visits, and they will eat each-and-everything that you will make for them. They are very suitable in adapting cultural environments and most of them would prefer to stay low-key voluntarily and live a life of minimalism. 🥳 Being born at the wrong place is not or ever will be in our control. There are many people, who never gets tired of complaining about how bad their destiny is and why their uncomfortable environment has impacted their lives. Even if I choose to adopt such people I cannot do it (morally), however I have adopted a stray dog and have given him the second chance to life. I am not here to brag but I can tell you from personal experience that, it's the best decision I have made in life. 🙏 During the initial days (after adopting), many unwanted people told me to get rid of 'trippy' (my dog) only because he is a stray and he might become a liability to my social status. People have made this notion of having dogs as their winning trophies for a social gathering and miscontrue the ethical choice of being human. I have stopped listening to people who shares such shallow views of life and instead I have chose to be more mindful and human in my actions. ✨ Adopting a dog and changing his or her life can be the best decision of your life too. However, persuading you to do such activities isn't the motive of this blog. Instead, I have only one request to make and that is, "try becoming more compassionate towards a stray dog because they are dogs too". It doesn't cost much to have a real heart of gold. #dogsofworld #adoptdontshop #doggy #dogs #lovedogs #lovedogs #nature #rescuedog #europe #animal #puppylife #happydog #labrador #dogmom #pitbull #cutedog #goldenretriever #petlovers #pup #happy

How Similar Are We to Animals Like Swans? 🦩 Monogamy: Swans, much like many humans, often form lifelong bonds with their partners. This devotion to a single partner mirrors human relationships and underscores the importance of love and loyalty in the animal kingdom. These enduring partnerships show that the concept of lifelong commitment is not just a human trait but a shared characteristic among some animals. 🦄 Parental Care: Swans are known for their attentive and dedicated parenting. They protect and nurture their young with great care, similar to how humans look after their children. This nurturing behavior highlights the universal nature of parental love and responsibility, illustrating that the instinct to care for one's offspring transcends species. 🐧 Communication: Swans utilize a variety of sounds and body language to communicate with one another. Similarly, humans rely on both verbal and non-verbal cues to express their emotions and intentions. This shared mode of communication shows that, despite the complexity of human language, the fundamental need to connect and convey information is a common trait across species. These shared behaviors remind us that, despite our differences, we share profound similarities with the animal world. By recognizing and celebrating these connections, we can foster a greater appreciation for nature and learn valuable lessons from our animal counterparts. hashtag#Nature hashtag#AnimalBehavior hashtag#LoveAndLoyalty hashtag#ParentalCare hashtag#Communication Video credit goes to its respective owner!

My son is obsessed with bees and saving the bees. Because someone told him about the bees in a way that connected with him and today is World Bee Day. His class had a visit from Urban Hives (urban beekeepers)who have set up and tend to a hive at his school, we've even had some honey that 'his' bees made to sample at home. Since then he wants us to walk everywhere, rescue every bee we see that looks to be struggling, plant wild flowers and replace our ancient fake lawn with a real one (don't judge.) All 30 kids in his class are now mini bee activists and want to change the world. That's because the clever people at Urban Hives (and their ever patient teachers) presented the information to them in a way that connected with them, a way that made them all feel something and want to make a difference. Why am I telling you this? Well...are you confident that you are delivering your content in a way that connects with your audience and makes them want to take action, or are they just scrolling past? If you want to create content that shines online then I can help you tell your story in a way that stands out amongst the beige posts and connects. I can also recommend a good beekeeper 🐝 #contentthatconnects #worldbeeday #contentstrategy #contentexpert

https://lnkd.in/d6ju3Wju Dear Advocates, I want to share an important story with you all. I LOVE animal documentaries. Absolutely love them. There is so much information about how life works, by watching and learning from nature. For example, Elephants walk incredible distances, and as they move, they change their environment in major ways. One way is by knocking over and tearing up dead trees that end up falling into waterways. As they do this, there is a fish species that depends on these logs to create nurseries to lay their eggs so they are protected. Without these dead trees in the water, their eggs would be eaten. This fish species is only able to survive because elephants pass through their area. Every single person in this group who is part of a PAC, or advocacy organization, if you are supporting someone else in their advocacy efforts, if you are working as a professional, or if you are advocating for your own child, we are all elephants. We have no idea the impact our advocacy is making. We are tearing down dead trees, and just like how the elephants have no idea the impact they are having on this fish species….we will actually never know, truly….how deep or helpful to others our advocacy is impacting. (Hint: schools also systematically do things so you feel you are hitting a wall, and they never want you to know how powerful you actually are.) If you are having a day, a week, or a month, of wondering if you are getting anywhere, or you are wondering if what you are doing is pointless. Always, remember the elephants. Your work is having an impact. Conversations change people. You are making a difference. You are helping other people. You may not see the impact immediately or ever, but everything we all do builds. It’s the little things that matter. Keep going elephants. The school year is almost coming to an end. #BCED #Advocacy #Education #Disability

Happy Cow Appreciation Day! 🐮 Before we dive into our celebrations, let’s share a bit of history. Did you know this day started as a marketing campaign by a fast-food chain in 2004, promoting the idea that cows want people to eat more chicken? Regardless of its origins, as animal welfare advocates, we're reclaiming this day to celebrate cows for who they are. Let's deepen our appreciation for these wonderful animals with some fun facts: 👯 COWS HAVE BESTIES: Cows live complex social lives just like us, forming strong lifelong friendships with each other and feeling stressed when separated from their friends. 💡 COWS ARE SMART: Navigating complex social lives takes serious brain power. Curious in nature, cows think critically to solve problems and even show signs of excitement when solving a problem! 👋 COWS CAN REMEMBER YOU: Cows can tell people, animals and other cows apart by their shapes and colours!

I often get the question: “𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙚𝙭𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙡𝙮 𝙞𝙨 𝙏𝙝𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙙?” I always respond with the following: "𝙏𝙝𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙙 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙬𝙚𝙗𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙢𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙨 𝙛𝙡𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙨." How do we do this, for what purpose, and how it might help you better market your flowers and plants is something to discover with team Thursd. -which you can reach by sending a message to [email protected]. #jointhursd. #followthursd. #floriculture #loveflowers #loveplants join.thursd.com
