Fantastic afternoon yesterday celebrating Purple Tuesday at the most amazing venue hosted by Jane Hollinshead of the Canary Wharf Group! Great to hear from so many incredible people in the room who are all a force to improve the experience and opportunity for disabled people. The panel discussion with Boots UK SHL Hidden Disabilities Sunflower 💜 Smartbox Allwyn UK Standard Chartered Bank National Highways was very insightful and inspiring to hear about what they are all committed to doing! Some key points below: 🦽🦯🌻 27% Uk population & 17% global population is disabled 🤝 Trust is starting to be built between brands and disabled people but more needs to follow and businesses need help to understand and change through real tangible lived experience ⏩Momentum is growing and the next generation will not tolerate what previous generations have. So we all need to work at pace. Three points to help…. 1️⃣ Be a Disability Ally 2️⃣ Address ableism when you see it. Not confronting it but do something about it 3️⃣ Advocate for disability rights Collectively we need to understand true accessibility and then make it happen I am so greatful to Mike Adams for the invite today and I am looking forward to developing the relationship to see how we can support Jersey businesses and organisations to make meaningful change. Please do checkout Purple Tuesday and sign up! What is one commitment you can do this year to make a change? It doesn’t have to be Huge, one small step 🦶is enough! 📧Contact me at Connecting Communities if you want to find out more! #purpletuesday #purpletuesdaynov #areyoumybrand #disabilityinclusion #connectingcommunities #jerseyci Jersey Chamber of Commerce IoD Jersey Government of Jersey Kristina Moore Dr Helen Miles - Minister for Justice and Home Affairs Malcolm Ferey Elaine Millar Henry Baye Anna Terry Tricia Warwick MCIM Visit Jersey
