"More Tips To Build Ongoing Resilience In Your Search Remember, resilience matters—a recent report found that only 54% of job seekers felt “confident in their ability to find a job within the next six months." • Cultivate Personal Resilience: Executive job searches are journeys with highs and lows. When disappointment strikes, it’s vital to bolster your mental strength to stay motivated. • Keep An Insight Journal: Track job search activities, emotional states after events and key learnings. Review regularly to spot useful patterns or areas to improve. Self-awareness fuels resilience. • Reinforce Your Assets: Create a pre-game list of qualifications and strengths before interviews. Re-read them afterward to cement your value, whether you get an offer or not. • Reset With Mindfulness: Set aside regular time for meditation, yoga or simple breathing exercises. These conscious mental resets can help clear discouragement and renew motivation. • Focus On Your Control: You can’t control hiring decisions. However, you can continually improve your candidacy through upskilling, networking and interview practice. Remind yourself of the progress within your hands. The executive job search will test your motivation and resilience. Remember that setbacks are mere stumbling blocks, not dead ends. Persist with courage, adaptability and belief in your talents. You have so much wisdom and experience to offer the right organization." https://lnkd.in/gYQCcs-7

In my last post, I talked about the importance of resilience during the job search. Here are five quick tips: 1. Maintain a Routine: Structure your days with a schedule that includes job searching, networking, skill-building, and self-care activities. Consistency can help you stay focused and motivated. 2. Set Realistic Goals: Break down your job search into manageable tasks and set achievable goals for each day or week. Celebrate small victories along the way to keep yourself motivated. 3. Stay Positive: Keep a positive mindset and remind yourself that setbacks are a natural part of the job search process. Focus on what you can control, such as improving your skills or expanding your network. 4. Seek Support: Don't hesitate to reach out to friends, family, mentors, or support groups for encouragement and advice. Sharing your experiences with others can help you feel less isolated and more motivated. 5. Practice Self-Care: Make time for activities that help you relax and recharge, such as exercise, meditation, hobbies, or spending time with loved ones. Taking care of your physical and emotional well-being is essential for staying resilient during challenging times. As you navigate today and the next, I hope this helps you maintain your resilience. #careercoach #jobsearch #resilience

You know, in this fast-paced world we live in, it’s easy to find ourselves caught in a whirlwind of job applications, cover letters, and interviews. With each click of that "Submit" button, it can feel like we're putting a piece of our hearts and a whole lot of energy into finding that next big opportunity. What happens when this process starts to feel a little too much, like a weight on your shoulders? When the excitement starts to fade and you find yourself running on empty? That's what I like to call "application burnout," and believe me, it’s something so many folks are experiencing right now. As a career coach, I hear this from my clients all the time. They tell me how the job search can start to feel like an uphill battle, and sometimes it's tough to bounce back. But here's the thing: you are not alone, and it's okay to feel this way. It’s essential to recognize when you’re running on fumes and take those necessary steps to nurture your energy and well-being. Remember, the job search is more than just landing that perfect position; it's also about keeping yourself balanced and loved along the way. Because when we take care of ourselves, we can shine in our brightest light! 💡 Tips to Combat Application Burnout: 𝗦𝗲𝘁 𝗕𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀: Dedicate specific times for job searching and stick to them. Let yourself disconnect and recharge. 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀: Incorporate some mindfulness into your day, whether it’s a bit of meditation, some deep breaths, or journaling your thoughts. It’ll help clear your mind and bring you back to center. 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝘀: Every step you take is a step forward, so celebrate each milestone! Whether it’s a call-back, an interview, or simply getting another application out there, every bit counts. 𝗦𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁: Reach out to those who understand your journey, be it mentors, career coaches, or friends. Sharing your experiences can lighten the load and offer fresh perspectives. 𝗘𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻: Be gentle with yourself. Rejection is just part of the process and not a reflection of your worth. Remember, it’s a marathon, not a sprint. Finding balance is the key. By acknowledging and addressing application burnout, you give yourself the power to approach each opportunity with renewed energy and clarity. #JobSearchBalance #MindfulCareer #CareerWellbeing #SelfCare

Executive & Career Transition Coach | Unretirement Advocate | Spiritual Psychologist | Helping Mid-Career Professionals Rediscover Their Deeper Purpose, Rebuild Their Confidence, & Pivot to Meaningful, Rewarding Careers
We don’t like looking at our comfort zones. We’re very ambivalent about this question in our society. On the one hand, we applaud people who defy and break out of their comfort zones. We admire those who push past their limitations or persist through adversity to achieve success. Yet for the most part, we reward complacency. We’re supposed to be “team players,” and to “go along to get along.” This dilemma becomes particularly daunting as we get older in our profession and wonder whether we should sit tight in our jobs and hope for the best, or break away, try something different and risk failure at a time when we have supposedly little room for recovery. Check out this current article for some further thoughts and suggestions about why leaving your comfort zone is indeed the way to go. #jobsearch #jobs #networking #futureofwork #professionaldevelopment #careers #careerdevelopment https://lnkd.in/euR3kg-A

Hey LinkedIn community, I wanted to share a bit of wisdom with others who may also be looking for positions. It can be incredibly frustrating and stressful especially in instances like mine when you've applied to 1000+ positions with little success. Here are a few thoughts on stress management. 🌟 Managing Stress in Your Job Search: A Key to Success 🌟 I wanted to share something that's often overlooked but incredibly crucial during a job search, especially when it feels like nothing is going your way – Stress Management. 🧘♂️ Searching for a new position can be challenging, with its ups and downs. Rejections, unanswered applications, or seemingly endless interviews can take a toll on your mental and emotional well-being. But remember, it's how you manage stress that can make all the difference. Here are a few reasons why stress management is vital during your job hunt: 1. Clarity of Thought: Stress can cloud your judgment and decision-making abilities. By managing stress effectively, you can think more clearly, make better choices, and present yourself confidently to potential employers. 2. Resilience: Job hunting often involves facing rejection, setbacks, and disappointments. Stress management helps build resilience, enabling you to bounce back from setbacks and stay motivated in your pursuit. 3. Positive Impact on Interviews: A relaxed and composed demeanor in interviews can be a game-changer. It allows you to showcase your true potential, increasing your chances of landing the job you want. 4. Health and Well-being: Chronic stress can harm your physical and mental health. Prioritizing stress management ensures you maintain your well-being throughout your job search, ensuring you're in top shape for your next role. So, how can you manage stress effectively? 1. Mindfulness and Meditation: Practice mindfulness techniques to stay present and reduce anxiety. 2. Healthy Lifestyle: Regular exercise, a balanced diet, and sufficient sleep can do wonders for stress reduction. 3. Seek Support: Lean on friends, family, or support groups for encouragement and a listening ear. 4. Set Realistic Goals: Break your job search into manageable steps and celebrate small victories. Remember, your journey to the right job may have its twists and turns, but managing stress can help you navigate them with confidence and resilience. Stay positive, stay focused, and never underestimate the power of self-care. Your dream job is out there, and you've got what it takes to find it. 💪 #JobSearch #StressManagement #CareerAdvice #WellBeing #Resilience #StayPositive

Unfortunately, we regularly speak with good people whose positions have recently been made redundant. After speaking with hundreds of people who have navigated this transitional period of their professional careers, we have highlighted 10 points that have helped during this time. While it's essential to focus on practical steps like updating your CV, enhancing your LinkedIn profile, and exploring job boards, it's equally important to manage your well-being during this period. Take a Moment to Reflect. Initially, give yourself time to process the situation. Use this as an opportunity to reassess your career goals and aspirations. Establish a Structured Daily Routine. Create a daily schedule that balances job searching, skill development, and personal time. This will help you maintain focus and a sense of control. Invest in Professional Development. Engage in relevant online courses or training programmes to improve your skill set, making you a more attractive candidate to potential employers. Leverage Your Professional Network. Connect with former colleagues, industry contacts, and professionals for advice, moral support, and job leads. Networking can be a vital tool in your job search. Prioritise Physical Activity. Regular exercise is essential for mental clarity and stress reduction. It can provide a much-needed energy boost during your job search. Focus on Balanced Nutrition and Rest. Good health is fundamental during stressful times. A balanced diet and adequate sleep can significantly impact one's overall well-being. Practice Mindfulness or Meditation. Techniques like mindfulness or meditation can help manage stress and maintain a focused mindset. Set Realistic Goals. Outline specific, achievable objectives for your job search and professional development activities. This provides a sense of achievement and forward momentum. Seek Professional Advice When Necessary. Don't hesitate to consult with a career coach or a counsellor if you're having trouble coping. Professional guidance can be instrumental during transitional periods. Keep a Journal. Documenting your experiences, thoughts, and feelings can be a helpful way to process your emotions and track your progress. It's important to remember that redundancy, while challenging, does not reflect your professional worth. It may not feel like it, but it's an opportunity for growth and reorientation in your career. #humanresources #management
