Speaking at conferences is a fantastic way to advance your career. (The practice of presenting, of articulating my thoughts and seeing how they play with an audience, has also helped me immensely in honing my point of view on topics I care about.) If you're thinking about speaking at a conference, you should check this out.
Next coffee with Lou (that's me!) is coming up two weeks from today, Thursday May 2, from 12-1pm. The topic is "What Makes for a Successful UX Conference Presentation?," and I've pulled in a crack team of Rosenfeld conference curators—Jemma Ahmed, Christian Crumlish, Uday Gajendar, and Christopher Geison—to answer your questions and share tips. If you're interested in speaking at a UX or adjacent conference, especially one of ours, we hope you'll join us. Link for more info/registration in first comment.

🧠 It all starts with knowing your user. User research plays a pivotal role in the product development process, particularly in today’s environment – where designers are constantly adapting to changing user needs. In this fast-paced world, staying abreast with user needs and integrating them with the product is (more than) absolutely essential. It’s either that, or the risk of creating a poorly designed solution, ultimately leading to higher costs. 🤷🏼♀️ To help you stay on track, here’s a list of well-rated podcasts recommended by design repositories (and some of ownpath’s mentors!), focused exclusively on the latest practices being talked about by industry leaders in user research👇🏼 1. UX Research Geeks hosted by Tina Ličková - https://lnkd.in/gqtM6pXd 2. UX Research Club by Dr Emmanuelle Savarit - https://lnkd.in/gPfPcmKP 3. What’s it like doing UX/User research? In this case it means being in the Georgia woods at 83F, not saying anything, not asking anything, not writing things down, just visually observing. Environmental conditions, potential user conditions, and more. Combined with a mock firefight with live weapons (no live rounds). To get the raw insight you need. You have to go where you need to.
