I want to talk about community and the importance of community in Allyship because Allyship is not a solitary endeavour; it is a collective commitment to creating a fairer, more inclusive society. At its core, allyship is about standing alongside those who face discrimination and injustice, amplifying their voices, and challenging prejudice wherever it appears. However, to be effective, allies themselves need support, encouragement, and a sense of belonging — and this is where the importance of community comes in. Allies need allies because change is rarely achieved in isolation. A strong community of allies serves as a source of strength and resilience, offering support during difficult conversations or when facing opposition. It can also act as a platform for education, where members can learn from each other’s mistakes, share successes, and develop new strategies for effective action. In the journey towards anti-racism, no one should feel they are walking alone. By building a strong community of allies, we can create a united front against prejudice, learn from one another, and continue to strive for a world where equality and justice are more than just ideals — they are a reality.

Institutions that encourage qualified persons to serve as board members on pro bono basis should be aware that they may attract mediocre candidates or those with no genuine desire to serve, instead attracting those seeking business opportunities rather than governance and oversight. This generates a hostile climate, particularly in larger companies, since the emphasis swings towards projects rather than the organization's objectives. Compensate them, because to some their involvement is regarded as employment rather than community engagement; furthermore, preparing for a meeting entails a significant burden due to the excessive pack!!!

You cannot talk of Community Development and not involves the principles of sustainable development, empowerment, inclusivity, social justice, human rights, participative democracy, and equality. The same include community-led initiatives. You need to work WITH community to do community development. Most leaders choose to work WITHIN the community hence they fail.

Believing in the fundamental role of youth in societal transformation and the significance of enhancing and refining their skills, I am delighted to share that in 4th of July 2020_ 6th of July 2020, I attended the prestigious workshop on "Youth Empowerment Strategies". The sessions revolved around the importance of empowering youth and enhancing their skills to contribute to community development, it also provides deeper insight into creating professional projects and job opportunities. This course paved the way for me to discover my capabilities and served as the starting point for understanding the importance of strategically planning my path more profoundly. #Youth_Empowerment_Strategies

Best known for his work on social capital and civic engagement, Putnam argued that, over the last several generations, there has been a significant decline in the social capital that enables individuals to coordinate, collaborate, and pursue shared objectives.
