Sure, higher education needs to reform itself -- but it also needs to defend itself. Here's how. My latest for The Hill. https://lnkd.in/eBJvPak2

Higher education institutions are well aware of how big of an impact court decisions can have on the industry. 2024 has quite the lineup of lawsuits that could significantly impact the higher education world. It will be important to monitor these closely to prepare for any potential impacts they might have once they are ruled on. #HigherEducation #HigherEdRegulations #ProactiveLeadership

"Strengthening accreditation, rather than dismantling it, must be the path forward." Policymakers must understand what the purpose of accreditation is before they can understand why it is so important to the higher education system. Improving the accountability of accreditors and revising the accreditation regulations will help ensure colleges and universities are maintaining the high educational standards students deserve. #HigherEducation #Accreditation #Colleges #Universities

Higher Ed reform is in the air. I argue for a more fundamental approach, where reformers go to the root of the problem by reconsidering what higher education was like before the rise and institutionalization of the progressive university in America in my latest from Liberty and Law. Let's peel back the onion freed from the corrupt and corrupting approaches in today's system. How does K-12 fit in with undergraduate and undergraduate with graduate studies? Why do we need General Education? Do we need PHDs in all fields? Where can we implement more testing and higher admission standards? What would we want a conservative or civilizational higher education system to look like? How much research university? Where liberal arts? Where workforce education? Let's think bigger. An opening salvo. . . https://lnkd.in/gh7ZwszK

Another great piece by Jeremy Young. For higher education leaders looking for ways to defend higher education, consider joining Education for All. Our membership consists of leaders across the country seeking to resist the Anti-DEI legislation movement, one of the elements that is noted in this article. The moment to reimagine higher education for a more just future is now. https://lnkd.in/esruQh9G

University Secretary of Royal Holloway, University of London, experienced higher education leader and policy expert
Fascinating reflective and considered piece from Higher Education Policy Institute's Nicholas Hillman on the evolving #highered sector in England, the policy imperatives (and how these have changed since the 2017 Higher Education and Research Act) and the role of the #regulation and the Office for Students, referencing important points raised by Independent Higher Education's Alex Proudfoot. Worth a read for those interested in #highered policy, regulation and unfolding history for English #highered providers. https://lnkd.in/gKCK8UVV

I often get asked if test prep is worth the investment. The bottom line is that even if not required, high standardized test scores are a great way to help students stand out and increase their eligibility for scholarships. The transition from high school to college is a big one and we’re here to help you navigate all your options.
Standardized tests can offer valuable insights into students’ readiness for college. Many school counselors still support free, in-school testing, as a strong score can help set students apart, particularly when applying for scholarships. https://lnkd.in/eWfDW8U6 “The ACT test is designed to mirror what students have been taught, not influence what they are taught,” said Janet Godwin, ACT CEO #StudentSuccess #ACTTest #SchoolCounselingWeek #Education
