Today, on PTSD Awareness Day, let's remember that not all wounds are visible. PTSD affects more people than we might think. I grew up in a family of domestic violence, and back then, there was no such thing as PTSD. I carried deep feelings of shame, not feeling good enough, chronic anxiety, and an inability to cope with daily life's pressures. But I found hope and healing through energy medicine. I learned how it can be used to release the impressions left by traumatic events from our cells, allowing us to reclaim our lives and move forward. One study published in the Journal of Evidence-Based Integrative Medicine showed that energy medicine techniques, such as EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) and Reiki, can significantly reduce PTSD symptoms and improve overall well-being. Our healthcare heroes embody resilience and compassion in supporting mental health recovery. Less well known is the incidence of PTSD among healthcare workers, especially those on the frontlines of a pandemic such as COVID-19. Remember, self-care is essential for all, and seeking support is a sign of strength. Let's honor and thank these individuals for their unwavering commitment to serving others.
