mental health IS health.
On World Mental Health Day, Fasken joins voices calling to break down the stigma surrounding mental health challenges and mental illness. The legal sector is particularly concerned, with a significant proportion of its professionals reporting having experienced mental health issues. As a firm committed to the well-being of its members and the wider community it serves, Fasken is firmly engaged in fostering a supportive environment, and urges all those experiencing distress to seek help. One such resource is “The Right Not to Remain Silent: The Truth About Mental Health in the Legal Profession” by Beth Beattie, Carole Dagher, and Thomas GW Telfer (co-editors). This book features raw and honest accounts of mental illness and substance use and helps create space for those in the legal profession to share their stories. Let’s come together to learn, share, and show our determination to create a more compassionate and understanding world. #worldmentalhealthday #wellness #mentalhealth

During Collaborative Therapy Month for Mental Health Awareness, let's shed light on depression by the numbers: 🔹 Depression is the No.1 leading cause of disability in the U.S. 🔹 It's estimated to cost $180 Billion in the U.S. 🔹 In 2022, there were between 45,000 to 50,000 deaths by suicide in the U.S., averaging to 1 suicide every 11 minutes. 🔹 Shockingly, 50% of adults struggling with depression do not receive treatment. Let's use these statistics to spark conversations, increase understanding, and advocate for accessible mental health support for all. Together, we can make a difference. 💙 #CollaborativeTherapyMonth #MentalHealthAwareness #BreakTheStigma"

On World Mental Health Day, I wanted to relay the following: 1. It’s ok not to be ok. 2. Mental health is health. 3. 1 in 4 Canadians have a mental illness. No one is exempt. 4. By 2025, depression will be the number one illness worldwide. 5. Managing towards reducing the stigma around mental illness and creating a safe environment for those with a mental illness is not just the right thing to do, it is the financially responsible thing to do (look no further than the percentage of those employees who are on short or long term disability leave due to mental illness). The time to act is now. Let’s move from words to action. Some of my actionable recommendations are below: 1. Leaders should set the tone from the top by showing they are not immune from mental illness struggles. 2. Companies should provide reasonable and sufficient mental health benefits. 3. Accommodate those who are managing their mental illness according to what they individually need not based on a generic corporate policy. 4. Above all, be kind. It’s not your struggle until you live it. https://lnkd.in/gbTT2g2h

supporting Derbyshire levy registered employers, access training and apprenticeship funding to help their business thrive
as we draw to the end of Mental Health Awareness week, It's clear its so important to keep talking. one of the biggest challenges in addressing mental health issues is the stigma associated with them. this stigma can prevent individuals from seeking the help they need and deserve. by fostering open conversations and educating ourselves and others, we can break down these barriers and create a more supportive environment.

September is National Suicide Prevention Month. The construction industry has dedicated the week of September 9-13 to raise awareness about the unique challenges workers face in construction which may lead to suicide and what we can do to prevent it. Mental health matters and together we can break the stigma and remind our crew members it's ok to ask for help. We are working to build a stronger future-one that prioritizes mental well-being. #theclearyway #clearyconstruction

Enough is enough. No more flag waving, tick box crap. As an industry, we HAVE to work together to improve mental health and reduce the horrendous suicide figures. The big question is, are you with us? If you are, contact us at The Build Network UK to see what you can do to help. It's time for positive change. #construction #mentalhealth #thebuildnetworkuk #timeforpositivechange
