Today, we honor and celebrate Juneteenth! On this day in 1865, the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas were finally informed of their freedom, over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. Juneteenth is more than a historic milestone; it’s a time to honor the tremendous contributions of Black Americans and the rich cultural heritage of Black communities. It's also a day to reflect on the progress that’s been made and to recommit ourselves to the work that still lies ahead in the journey toward justice and equality.
