As we observe Mental Health Awareness Month, it's vital to acknowledge the reality many face in the United States: 1 in 5 U.S. adults experience mental illness each year. Only 47.2% of U.S. adults with mental illness received treatment in 2021. 1 in 20 U.S. adults experience serious mental illness annually. Only 65.4% of U.S. adults with serious mental illness received treatment in 2021. 1 in 6 U.S. youth have a mental health condition, yet only half receive treatment. 50% of all lifetime mental illness begins by age 14, and 75% by age 24. These statistics highlight the urgent need for accessible mental health services and the importance of early intervention. Let's work together to break the stigma and support mental health and wellness in our communities. #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth #MentalHealthMatters #EarlyIntervention

We’re facing a mental health crisis here in the United States. Over one-third of adults say they’re struggling with mental illness or a substance use disorder, but less than half are able to access the care they need. Often, high out-of-pocket costs are what’s keeping people from the mental health services they’re interested in. For people of color, the trend is especially prevalent. This BIPOC Mental Health Awareness Month, let’s examine the numbers on members of different American populations who have experienced a cost-related issue when trying to get mental health care. To learn about what some are doing to help increase access to equitable mental health support, visit The Commonwealth Fund online today: https://lnkd.in/gDsyi2qA #BIPOCMentalHealthAwarenessMonth #BIPOCMentalHealthAwarenessMonth2024

Interim Chief Inspector of Healthcare at Care Quality Commission. Life-coach / Mentor / Coach / Championing men's mental health and suicide prevention
Suicide prevention is a critical issue that requires collective effort from everyone in society, regardless of gender. Men, in particular, face unique challenges and societal pressures that can contribute to feelings of isolation and hopelessness. It's important to create supportive environments where men feel comfortable expressing their emotions and seeking help when needed. This involves promoting mental health awareness, reducing stigma around seeking help, and providing accessible resources and support systems for those struggling with suicidal thoughts. By working together to prioritise mental health and support one another, we can help prevent suicide and save lives. #mensmentalhealth #menshealth #suicideprevention #suicideawareness
