We’ve teamed up with the Oregon Wellness Network (OWN) to launch a survey of Oregonians in order to understand their health concerns and perceptions of diabetes. Funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the survey is open through July 31 and will help Comagine Health, OWN and our partners: • Capture the priority health concerns within the community • Understand the perceptions of Oregonians surrounding diabetes and its impact on their lives and the lives of their loved ones • Use survey results to inform program recruitment and delivery, and support funding applications •Reach as many community members as possible in the targeted counties For more information and to access the survey, visit https://lnkd.in/gKTUiybh. #Diabetes #CommunityHealth

The best healthcare systems are HEALTH systems. Strong partnerships with public health are vital to sustaining that focus.
Chief Executive Officer, and Professor and Kenneth L. Davis, MD, Distinguished Chair, Mount Sinai Health System
It's remarkable to see how the pandemic has reshaped our understanding of the intersection between public health and #healthcare. We delved into the critical importance of seamless collaboration between these sectors. Our conversation highlighted how, in an ideal world, the public might not distinguish between public health efforts and health care services. For instance, in managing infectious diseases like measles and syphilis, health care providers diagnose individual cases, while public health teams conduct contact tracing and community education. This dynamic interplay ensures comprehensive disease management and community protection. #AspenIdeasHealth #AspenIdeas #WeFindAWay

There is also a strong case to be made for placing #PublicSafety on the same continuum ( #Healthcare <--> #PublicHealth <--> Public Safety), ESPECIALLY as we continue opening a Big Tent to incorporate mental and behavioral health in the health care / public health dialogue. The tragic reality is, like few other practices *in our world,* it takes JUST SECONDS for an adverse public safety encounter to become a lethal encounter. There is plenty of public safety that doesn't overlap with public health or healthcare per se. But someone who is unable to respond or obey -- for a range of reasons, from disability (e.g., autism, schizophrenia, many other etiologies) to biochemical impairment (i.e., people stroking or hypoglycemic have of course been mistaken for being under the influence) -- might NOT be a threat. The public safety side of our community WANTS to be better informed re: critical clinical context, but their policies, procedures, and technical means of accessing such data have not yet caught up. The ability is coming fast and finally -- this is something I've been honored to be deeply involved in at the regional, state, and even interstate levels. Complex patients, who live at the synapse of healthcare, public health, and public safety, are a poignantly vulnerable population when it comes to #DisasterPreparedness. Therefore, they are DEFINITELY a discussion topic in major metros like those where Brendan G. Carr, MD, MA, MS has had (and is having) a tremendously empathetic impact, including #NewYork, #Philadelphia, #DC, and more.

Many of you know I am passionate about #patientexperience as part of my work with Big Eye Innovation . In part, this is based on my own lived experience with #multifocalmotorneuropathy or #mmn . Though I am super-lucky (am stable and responded really well to regular treatment), the reality is my diagnosis was a hard-fought one that took SEVEN YEARS!!! And as I've noted many times, it took seven years as someone who is privileged by: --The fact my first language is English: which gave me a voice to clearly articulate what was happening --Knowledge of the health system: that gave me the confidence to keep pushing even when I was sent packing by a neurologist who, despite acknowledging something was wrong, wasn't interested in figuring it out --Race: which likely played into being taken more seriously (though I'm still a woman so there was a little, "you're getting older and slowing down" inserted into some conversations...) --Education level: while I pride myself on being a straight talker, I know you get further/am taken more seriously when I up my vocab with physicians Just imagine how long it would have taken if more odds were stacked against me...One of the reasons I agreed to do this video is because another video by another passionate advocate was a large part in solving the puzzle. Today marks day one of #MMNawarenessmonth and I'm excited to help the GBS/CIDP Foundation of Canada / Fondation canadienne du SGB/PDIC kick it off by putting my story out there. Also a special shout-out to all those who donate #bloodplasma through Canadian Blood Services . Your gift lets me live a full, healthy and productive life! #rarediseaseawareness #patientadvocacy #healthequity #luckyduck
